The first couple months of 2024 have already been full of exciting releases. Titles like Palworld, Persona 3 Reload, Tekken 8, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth are just a few of the biggest names that graced gaming in the first two months of 2024. The video games releasing in March 2024 promise to keep the streak going even further into the new year, and these are the titles that fans across a variety of genres should be most excited about.
10. The Thaumaturge
The Thaumaturge was initially supposed to be released in February, but a recent delay announcement has pushed the game back to March 4th citing a desire to “give it space so it can be enjoyed the way we believe it deserves.” The game is set in 19th-century Warsaw and is described as a “Story-driven RPG with morally ambiguous choices” on Steam. The main character has the ability to control strange and terrifying beings that aid him throughout the tale.
The Thaumaturge launches on March 4th.
9. Unicorn Overlord
Following up on the massive success of Persona 3 Reload in February, Atlus is publishing Vanillaware’s new tactical RPG in March that seems ready to scratch the itch of Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics fans out there. The art style and combat mechanics certainly seem to have a unique personality to them while some classic tactical RPG tropes like recruiting the player’s forces and the transition between overworld and battle animations are there to service diehard fans of the genre.
Unicorn Overlord launches on March 8th.
8. Expeditions: A MudRunner Game
The next MudRunner game is here, building upon the original with exciting new features like a dynamic weather system and improved vehicle customization. Fans of driving simulators are likely already pretty hyped up for this title considering the success of the original MudRunner alongside SnowRunner. The off-road driving and expansive, detailed environment in this game look top-notch.
Expeditions: A MudRunner Game launches on March 5th.
7. Biomorph
For the Metroidvania fans out there, particularly Hollow Knight players, Biomorph may be able to scratch the increasingly frustrated itch created by the wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong. Overall, it doesn’t seem like this game breaks any major barriers when it comes to the genre, but considering how rare it is that a quality game in this style comes along, it’s unlikely that fans of this style will be particularly bothered by any derivative qualities.
Biomorph launches on March 4th.
6. The Outlast Trials
The Outlast Trials is already available to be played on Steam right now, but that’s just Early Access. The full launch in March will bring the game to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on top of the extra content PC players will be getting thanks to the day-one full release patch. Some of the content intended for addition when the game’s full launch arrives includes character customization, more levels, new MK challenges, and a number of other quality-of-life improvements.
The Outlast Trials launches on March 5th.
5. Dragon’s Dogma 2
Dragon’s Dogma 2 may already be set up to be one of the best and most exciting action RPGs of the year. The gameplay shown from this game thus far has all of the intensity and fun fantasy elements of the original turned up a notch with more fearsome visuals, extra classes, and all manner of pawns for the player to build a party that fits exactly what they’re looking for.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches on March 22nd.
4. Alone in the Dark
Alone in the Dark may be the most promising horror title coming in 2024, and while the delays this game has received may be concerning to some, it also seems like a sign that Pieces Interactive and THQ Nordic are really dedicated to ensuring this game comes out as quality as possible. While this is billed in some ways as a remake of the cult-classic 1992 original, the promotional footage makes it seem as though Alone in the Dark is an entirely new and terrifying original game based in the world of an iconic horror title.
Alone in the Dark launches on March 20th.
3. Rise of the Rōnin
PlayStation 5 users have been in dire need of some quality new exclusives lately, and Rise of the Rōnin may be here to deliver. The traversal and combat of this game look lightning smooth and exciting to control. The setting also looks beautifully unique, combining both Western and Eastern architectural styles in one of the most unique towns of 19th-century Japan. This is right up the alley of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Ghost of Tsushima fans.
Rise of the Rōnin launches on March 22nd.
2. South Park: Snow Day
The last two South Park games Stick of Truth and Fractured But Whole created a dedicated RPG fanbase for the raunchy comedy cartoon that has been waiting on a new title from Trey Parker and Matt Stone. There are some reasons to be skeptical about South Park: Snow Day, the transition to 3D makes it feel far less like playing through a South Park episode, and the promotion thus far has been surprisingly vague in showing what the game actually is, but if Parker and Stone have had their hands on it then there’s bound to be some fun in store.
South Park: Snow Day launches on March 26th.
1. Princess Peach: Showtime!
Princess Peach: Showtime is the first solo adventure for the iconic Mushroom Kingdom character, and Nintendo seems intent on making it a unique experience. The promotional material for this game is really pushing how many different hats the princess takes on throughout this game. Not literal hats like Mario Odyssey, but she transitions through various transformations from a sword-fighter to an ice skater to a thief, and each brings different gameplay mechanics that make Princess Peach: Showtime seem like a game full of surprises.
Princess Peach: Showtime launches on March 22nd.
