Diablo 4 is upon us, and it’s packed with a million demons to slay and even more sweet loot to collect. While we could easily list off a hundred things instead of 10 to do in Diablo 4 first, we will try and keep the list manageable to start. Here are the 10 things you should do first in Diablo 4.
10 Things You Should Do First in Diablo IV
Diablo 4 is the latest entry in the famous hack-and-slash franchise and is undoubtedly its biggest. Gone are small, Act based hubs and small zones; in their place is a massive interconnected open world. Sanctuary is yours to explore freely, and the open, seamless nature of the world changes the moment-to-moment Diablo experience significantly. Here are the things we think you should prioritize first in Diablo 4.
Pick the Perfect Class
Diablo 4 lets players select from five unique classes: as follows.
- Barbarian – A melee brute who can spin to win.
- Druid
- Necromancer
- Rogue
- Sorcerer
Each class has its abilities, loot, and styles. You can create your character down to their appearance, and they will be voiced and star in every cutscene, so make sure you look the part. Finding out which class is vital to your enjoyment, so read each description carefully before you lock it in for the vast campaign.
Create or Link your Battle.net account
Diablo 4 is an always-online game and features no offline modes. As such, you must create a Battle.net account if you don’t already have one. If you play on a console, you can link your Battle.net account to your platform account. This will let you play with friends on different platforms and keep progressing no matter where you decide to play.
Turn on Advance Tooltips
This game is about leveling up, getting better loot, and optimizing your build as you progress through each Act. Determining which equipment is best can be challenging without knowing their stats first. Head to the options and enable two critical settings.
- Advanced Tooltip Compare – Gives you detailed information while comparing items.
- Advanced Tooltip information – This will give you an in-game glossary of each term and what it does in the game.
Turn both of these on to give yourself an edge when you plan your builds.
Create a Clan
Since the game features cross-play and cross-progression, playing with friends and random players is definitely encouraged. Players can create a clan after starting the game to round out the social features fully. Clans let you create a banner and daily and weekly messages and help you coordinate with a large group of like-minded demon slayers.
Change Cosmetics in the Wardrobe
Diablo 4 features an in-depth transmog system built out of the gate. When you salvage gear at the Blacksmith, you may notice a small message that says you will obtain a look when it’s destroyed. Each weapon and armor you break down will add that item’s appearance to your closet. You can freely adjust your cosmetics and dyes for each armor piece you own.
Discover Altars of Lilith ASAP
Sanctuary is a huge world full of towns, settlements, and dungeons to explore. Hidden carefully in each major zone is a new collectible known as the Altar of Lilith. These statues are significant; each will unlock a permanent stat boost or skill point across your account. This means that when you make another character, they will start the game with nice increases to their stats and available skills.
Beat the Story
Diablo 4 features a cinematic story featuring Lorath, Lilith, your hero, and many other faces—some old, many new, across Sanctuary. We suggest you start clearing out the main story quests immediately. For one, the story is incredible and tells a mature, dark, foreboding tale worthy of the Diablo name. Furthermore, once the campaign is complete, you can unlock a wealth of end-game content to dig deep into, and it’s worth the time investment to see it all.
Unlock a Mount
This goes hand in hand with our previous tip. We didn’t rank these 10 things to do in Diablo 4 in order, but this one is important. Early in the game, you will run across a Stable, which will tease players with the idea of having a mount and exploring each zone with speed and efficiency, but it will be locked behind a quest. If you want to know precisely how to grab this quest, you’re in luck, as we have a complete guide right here. Once a mount is unlocked, you can access it with all your characters, even new heroes just starting the game.
Go Dungeon Diving
When you first explore the open world, you will come across a slew of dungeons as far as the eye can see. Each dungeon is a set location, with a guaranteed Legendary Aspect as a reward. These items will allow you to upgrade any Rare item to Legendary status by melding an Aspect with it. This is crucial to building crating, and each Legendary Aspect is an account-wide unlock. Get your best gear, and go dungeon diving with friends as soon as possible.
Climb the World Tier
Diablo 4 features a multi-tiered difficulty system known as World Tiers. World Tier One is the default difficulty and offers the easiest gameplay experience. Each level of World Tier will adjust the gameplay experience and increase the rewards you can earn. Certain gameplay elements are locked behind World Tier 3 and World Tier 4, but the best rewards can also be found on those levels. Level up to 50, get your best builds, and adjust the World Tier to start mix-maxing your loot.
Now that you have this handy list of the 10 things to do first in Diablo 4, you will have a firm grasp of what to expect in the dark and gloomy vacation destination, Sanctuary. Grab an axe or two, and prepare for a hell of a time in Diablo 4. Check out The Nerd Stash for more Diablo 4 goodness.
