Diablo 4 Season 4 with its new Loot Reborn has finally made the game the way it should’ve been released. However, with the long list of changes, even returning players can feel lost on what to do, especially if they go in blind. So if you need that further push to help you dominate Diablo 4 Season 4 better, then I present some tips and tricks you probably didn’t know.
Park Your Character Near Helltide Accursed Rituals
Leveling is easier now since you’re just spending most of your time in Helltides. Still, if you want to level while also maximizing your rewards, then Accursed Rituals are the way to go. These are summoning areas where players must spend three Baneful Hearts to summon the new Helltide boss.
Before the boss gets summoned, however, players will need to fight off a huge wave of enemies. This grants tons of experience and gear drops. Also, you don’t have to spend Baneful Hearts; you can just wait for other players to spend their Baneful Hearts and help them fight off the boss or the enemy waves.
Break Through World Tier 3 & 4 Much Earlier
Previously, this only applied to some of the most skilled players in Diablo 4, but nowadays, I’d wager that most people can do it since the game is easier now. You can break into World Tier 3 at Level 30+ and World Tier 4 at Level 50+, and you won’t get penalized too much. You can now equip Sacred Gear at Level 35 and Ancestral Gear at Level 55.
On top of that, you get a substantial experience gain and increased drop chances. Overall, this means you can level up faster if you take risks. The only thing at stake, if you fail or die in Capstone Dungeons, would be your gear durability, which is cheap to repair anyway. So there’s nothing to lose.
Ignore the Aspect Rewards from Nightmare Dungeons
In Diablo 4 Season 4, it’s now significantly better to obtain Aspects from Gear (through Salvaging) instead of the lower-quality Aspect rewards from Nightmare Dungeons. Aspects from Nightmare Dungeons have always offered the lowest quality even though they are easy to obtain and don’t rely on chance.
What this does is give you more incentive to try out open-world events. The quality of your Aspects depends on how well you can farm Legendary Gear. You don’t need to use those lower-quality Aspects from the Nightmare Dungeons unless that’s the only thing you have, which is understandable if you’re just starting out.
No Need to Conserve Aspects
Thanks to the changes to the Aspect system, your best Aspects are no longer consumed upon use. They’ll always be stored in the Codex and you can even make multiple items with the same top Aspect you have. You no longer need to wait until you have Ancestral Gear to use up your best Aspects. You can activate your build early on.

Diablo 4: Legacy Items ExplainedAgain, Aspects aren’t one-time-use consumables anymore. The best Aspects you have will be automatically applied when you’re enchanting your item through the Aspect Codex. Because of this, making new characters and leveling them up is also less tedious now, especially if you have high-quality universal Aspects.
No Need to Conserve Elixirs
Additionally, Elixirs have been improved. It’s not on the same level of convenience as Aspects, of course. Elixirs are still consumables and you still need to craft them. However, enemies now drop Elixirs more often, especially in Helltides. They also cost less to craft now, so it’s easy to have several stacks of Elixirs unwittingly.
That means you shouldn’t be too thrifty about using Elixirs. After all, most of them grant bonus experience. Make sure to pop off a bottle or two every 15-30 minutes or so even if you’re not running Nightmare Dungeons. Some Elixirs can even make your Helltide farming more hectic or rewarding.
Temper Your Gear Wisely
You can Temper most gear once but Ancestral Gear can be Tempered twice with different stat categories. So make sure that you’re always maximizing your gear’s Tempering slot. They’re practically free anyway given how cheap Tempering is in Diablo 4 Season 4.
However, you will want to keep an eye on the Tempering counter. It’s not exactly easy to notice, but the Tempering counter is right below the item’s Durability. Too many Tempering rerolls can brick your item and you might get stuck with an undesirable stat. So before you Temper, plan around that Temper counter.
Tier 41+ Nightmare Dungeons are All That Matter
It goes without saying, but you shouldn’t get attached to your gear until a certain point in Diablo 4. That certain point is Item Power 925. That’s the max gear score for each item. Any other item lower than that is weaker and is bound for Salvaging sooner or later (unless they’re Unique).
Now, if you want to start farming 925 Gear early on, you’ll want to start with Tier 41+ Nightmare Dungeons. That’s when the enemies will start dropping items with a 925 Gear Score. Keep in mind that these are Level 95+ enemies, so you will need to be able to handle them.
In any case, you might want to save your effort and avoid Nightmare Dungeons until you can handle Tier 41 or higher.
Mind Your Armor Values But Not Too Much
Diablo 4 Season 4 also tips you off on how its armor values work now. There’s always a cap of 85 percent. If you want to achieve this cap, all you need is roughly 9,200+ Armor (9,232 Armor, to be exact). That’s the same for any class at max level (100); it will result in 85 percent physical damage reduction.
The implication is quite significant here. This essentially frees up your Gear stats if you find that you focused too much on Armor. So while it is important to keep Armor in mind and bolster up its numbers, overdoing it goes to waste. Hence, stop piling up Armor values past the certain point we mentioned. This might change in future Seasons, but for now, enjoy it.
Always Spur Your Mounts in Town
One of the biggest quality-of-life changes in Diablo 4 Season 4 that new players won’t notice is how you can now spur your mounts while in town to make them go faster. Previously, the game prohibited such action. But seeing as there are no unruly kids to run over with a horse in the Diablo lore, the towns have lifted that gallop ban.
In all seriousness, you can now rush in towns especially those that have inconvenient merchant or facility placements. Getting to Helltides right outside of towns and cities is also faster now. Returning players merely have to re-orient their muscle memory.
Don’t Be Afraid to Trade
Diablo 4 Season 4 lets you trade Legendary and even Unique items with other players through its Trade chat and UI. And you will want to trade eventually since other players might have that one Legendary Gear with a perfectly rolled Aspect that you could be missing. Some might also have the ideal combination of stats for your build.
Uniques are also in the player trading market now, meaning pursuing those high-level endgame builds is more feasible than ever. Really, you’ll likely just be hamstringing yourself if you avoid trading unless you’re running a solo-self-found playthrough. Remember these tips at the very least, and you’re going to make quick work of Diablo 4 Season 4 even with its Uber bosses.
Diablo 4 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox X/S.
