Tammy and Amy Slaton‘s recent pictures have provided a needed update about the 1000-Lb Sistsers’ stars. TLC’s 1000-Lb Sisters stars Tammy and Amy Slaton have been obese for much of their adult life, remarkably preventing them from living everyday lives. When fans met Tammy and Amy Slaton during their debut on TLC’s 1000-Lb Sisters, they weighed over 1000 lbs combined. The series premiered on January 1, 2020, and followed the sister’s journey to change their lives by losing weight.
Tammy and Amy’s 1000-Lb Sisters Journey
Over the years, these sisters have lost and won fans over with their behavior and attitude on the show. Amy proved to be the more disciplined of the sisters and quickly achieved her weight-loss goals. She also had the support of her ex-husband Michael Halterman who stood by the sisters during the early stages of the series.
Despite being the older sister Tammy, she continued to fumble on her weight-loss journey. She became famous for refusing to adhere to dietary instructions. Her constant tantrums also hindered her weight loss progress. However, after a near-death experience, Tammy was admitted to a rehabilitation center in Ohio.
While at the rehab center, Tammy made significant progress and eventually had her bariatric surgery done. The 1000-Lb Sisters star also met and married Caleb Willingham, who she met at the rehab center. Nonetheless, Tammy has continued making incredible progress since then. The 1000-Lb Sisters star has also been showing off her amazing body transformation.
Recently, Tammy got fans talking when she shared pictures of herself with standup comedian Chelcie Lynn on her Instagram story. Although Amy also appeared in the photos, Tammy was undoubtedly the star attraction. The older Slaton showed off her miraculously thin frame in a skeleton sweatshirt. The recent pictures also provided an update on the sisters after recent relationship troubles.
Tammy is Progressing In Her Weight Loss Journey
Unlike Amy, Tammy has had a challenging time on 1000-Lb Sisters and mostly struggled with her weight-loss journey. Instead of making progress, Tammy’s situation got worse, and at some point, she tipped the scale at over 700 pounds. Additionally, she needed to be hooked to an oxygen tank and also required a walker as she couldn’t stand on her own.
However, things changed for the better after Tammy suffered a near-death experience that forced her to check into an Ohio-based rehab facility. Under the close supervision of the rehab center staff, Tammy dropped the required weight to qualify for her bariatric surgery. Since then, the reality star has been enjoying a new lease on life and has fallen a substantial amount of weight.
So far, Tammy has lost over 300 pounds reaching a brilliant milestone in her journey. Fans feared her progress after Tammy left the rehabilitation center. Many feared the 1000-Lb Sisters‘ star’s nonchalant attitude might resurface. However, Tammy seems to have put all doubts about her commitments to bed with her recent appearances. While posing in the new photos with Amy and comedian Chelcie Lynn, Tammy looked her best in years. Tammy looked slimmer and healthier, which delighted many 1000-Lb Sisters‘ fans.
1000-Lb Sisters Amy & Tammy Look Happy Despite Relationship Troubles
Another thing that fans noticed from the pictures was how happy the sisters looked. The fans were delighted to see the sisters in high spirits amidst their ongoing marital woes. Amy is currently battling her ex-husband Michael Halterman in court as her divorce continues to get messier. According to reports, Tammy has also split from her husband, Caleb.
In March, 1000-Lb Sisters fans were shocked to learn that Michael had filed for divorce from Amy after nearly four years of marriage. The two married in 2019 and share sons, Gage Deon and Glenn Allen Halterman. The two are locked in a little tense custody battle, and fans are delighted it isn’t weighing her down.
Meanwhile, Tammy has reportedly split from her husband after only a few months of marriage. The two tied the knot last year in October at the rehab center — where they coincidentally met each other. However, the former couple fell apart after Tammy completed her treatment in February and returned to Kentucky. Amy has since moved into her home with her two kids, and on the evidence of their recent photos, it is safe to say that the Slaton sisters are getting along just fine.
Tammy Can Now Walk Without A Stroller
When the TLC series premiered in 2020, the Slaton sisters weighed 1000 lbs — with Tammy accounting for more. Later in the show, fans watched as Tammy peaked at 717 pounds and could barely move or take any action without being aided. For seasons 3 and 4, Tammy used an oxygen tank and couldn’t walk without a stroller.
Tammy couldn’t make the famous walk down the aisle during her wedding ceremony. Instead, her half-brother Chris Combs wheeled her down while Amy sang her rendition of “Here Comes the Bride.” The viral scene also saw Caleb burst into tears as he watched his bride get wheeled down the aisle.
More recently, Tammy was spotted on an electric scooter hooked to her oxygen tank during a shopping trip to a local Kentucky Walmart with her sister. However, she sparked concerns within the show’s fanbase as the pictures showed her vaping and buying junk food.
Now, all this seems like a long time ago, and fans are ecstatic with her progress in her weight-loss journey. In a recent report by The Sun, Tammy looked lively as she walked without the aid of a stroller. The reality TV star was on a day trip to Indiana with her brother Chris Combs, 41. The fact that she can now walk by herself underlines her desire and shows her progress.
Tammy Looks A Lot Shorter Than What Fans Expected
Perhaps the biggest discovery for fans from Tammy’s recent pictures is that she is significantly shorter than expected. According to her bio on Reality Titbit, Tammy is said to be about 5 feet 9 inches tall. But there has been no way to confirm that since she has been primarily bedridden or on a stroller.
After witnessing Tammy standing upright for the first time, the 1000-Lb Sisters‘ star looked shorter than anticipated. This sparked a minor debate between the 1000-Lb Sisters fans on a Reddit thread. Some tried to make sense of the disparity between what they saw and what Reality Titbit recorded in her bio.
While some of the fans suggested that her excessive weight may have made her get shorter over time, others were quick to shut them down. Some then maintained that the height recorded in Tammy’s bio was clearly an error. One 1000-Lb Sisters fan, CheeCheeC, said,
“You can clearly see she’s not 5’9….why do people have such a hard-on for defending a height? She definitely isn’t, lol.”
After months of media speculation that Tammy has slipped back into her old habits, most fans are delighted to see that it isn’t the case. Tammy’s recent pictures speak volumes of her determination and reflect positively on the support system she has around her throughout her weight-loss journey. Hopefully, there will be more good news from the 1000-Lb sisters in the coming months.
