We all see shocking situations across the country, but some are way worse than others. One example of this occurred not long ago in Coney Island, New York, where a 13-year-old kid brandished a knife while threatening other kids around him. To de-escalate things, a police officer arrived at the scene and pulled out his gun to arrest the child. While nothing happened, it was still something scary to watch, and it just makes people wonder why such a young person had a knife in public in the first place.
The original video comes from Grifty, who shared it on X (formerly Twitter). In it, we can observe a group of kids in Coney Island trying to corner one who is wearing a gray hood. The one with the hood starts moving backward and pulls something out, which is clearly a knife. The other children start surrounding him until a police officer arrives, screaming, “Drop the knife!” Shortly after, the cop pulls his gun on the kid, which forces the hooded child to drop the knife, and more police officers move in to arrest the youngling.
The other children at the scene ran away the moment the cops arrived, which makes some people wonder if the kid with the knife was defending himself from bullying or worse. In any case, the New York Post confirmed that police officers took the kid into custody and then released him to his parents.
This video caused a lot of commotion, with many sharing their opinions on the shocking event.

Ultimately, it seems no one got hurt. Many think the cop did the right thing in arresting the kid, but others believe there was bullying involved. By the looks of it, the kid with the knife was backing up, and the others were surrounding him, which looks quite strange. However, the other children ran away before the cops could question them, so we’ll never know what led to this child brandishing a knife in public.
