A woman in California gained the approval of thousands on the internet after she had a “large group” of LDS missionaries’ car towed away. They had parked in her apartment complex’s “permit parking only” spaces, so she informed management, who swiftly had the intruding vehicle taken away. The woman claims it’s already hard enough to find available parking at her apartment, so she felt that having them forcibly removed was the right thing.

As expected of missionaries, the group was in the apartment complex to “knock on everyone’s doors and leave flyers asking to come to their LDS Easter services,” Reddit user benihanaxmas explained r/pettyrevenge. For context, she adds that her parking lot has signs and security cameras to keep watch on anyone trying to park without a permit. Many Redditors applauded her for reporting the missionaries and even found the situation ironically funny.

Redditors Felt Like the Towing Was Well-Deserved

“How Godly of them to steal parking spots from people who paid for the right to use them,” a person remarked. “God obviously needed them to learn that lesson,” another commenter added. “God tows in mysterious ways,” quipped a third.

While the fact that the people whose cars got towed were missionaries, one person points out that religion shouldn’t be the justification for “entitlement and rule-breaking.” Not to mention, they took a tenant’s rightful parking spot, forcing her to circle until the vehicle was towed away.

Several Redditors also share stories of other religious groups that upset locals with their soliciting. One commenter recalled how a church came from out of state to protest at someone’s funeral. Unfortunately for them, the backlash was so harsh that their tires were slashed, and no local shops would offer replacements or repairs. “They had to charter a bus and have their vans towed all the way back to Kansas,” laughed the Redditor.

On the other hand, the LDS missionaries’ car that was towed in this story’s apartment complex luckily wasn’t vandalized. Though, they were indeed in the wrong for taking a tenant’s parking and were penalized accordingly to California law, CVC 22658.
