Nintendo Account Sign-ups are now open, marking the beginning of a new online approach for Nintendo.
The new service will connect all of Nintendo’s games and services over their consoles, PC, smartphones and tablets. We don’t know how the new accounts will work, but the first time they will be used is in the upcoming app, Miitomo.
Miitomo is a social networking app for Nintendo fans. It uses Miis to communicate and interact with others. It will also be Nintendo’s first foray into the mobile market. Miitomo sign-ups are also available, but you must first have a working Nintendo Account.
Also, incoming is the successor to Club Nintendo, My Nintendo Programme. It will work in much the same way: players will collect points and cash them in for prizes and rewards.
Nintendo is updating their networking systems in a big way. the mobile initiative will lead the charge, undoubtedly followed by the NX and its innovations. This will hopefully be a big improvement over the Nintendo Network that has been struggling for several years now. Gamers have been clamouring for a better way to play games like Smash Bros., Mario Kart, and Splatter online, and hopefully, the Nintendo Account system will remedy this.
Nintendo Account will officially launch with Miitomo later this year while My Nintendo Programme is slated to release in March.
