Genshin Impact’s new Fontaine region is coming just around the corner. This will be the first region added since Genshin Impact’s 3.0 update, making five total. As fans already know, each different area comes with an associated element. For example, the Mondstadt region is representative of Anemo. Following this pattern, Fontaine will be the region of Hydro. Although this doesn’t mean that all the region’s characters will be Hydro, many of the regional themes will center around the element. After Dendro characters receive their turn during the last round of updates, Fontaine will bring about a resurgence of Hydro characters. First up is Mona the astrologer. In Genshin Impact, Mona is a 5-star Hydro Catalyst user. In the story, Mona has settled down in Mondstadt to study the stars and frequently helps the Traveler throughout the region. Overall, Mona functions as a wonderful sub-DPS character that easily fits into any kind of party. With the ability to create distracting clones, Mona can help pull some threats off the party. Additionally, for her Elemental Burst, Mona can trap all enemies in bubbles that can explode to deal massive damage. On top of this, the bubbles can also be frozen to increase the Freeze Reaction duration. All these positives combined help make Mona an amazing Hydro character that can help your party throughout Genshin’s new Fontaine region.

Next, Tartaglia is a former Fatui Harbinger and a 5-star Bow wielder. Previously an antagonist, Childe, AKA Tartaglia, ends up joining the Traveler’s side soon in the story. Based on lore alone, Tartaglia is already an amazing character to bring along your Fontaine adventure. However, Tartaglia’s versatility and power also make him a worthy member combat-wise. Tartaglia is a special case in this game since he can use both ranged and melee weapons. Although he is mostly in his bow form, using his Elemental Skill allows him to use strong melee attacks. Combined with a powerful Elemental Burst, Tartaglia is one of the best Hydro characters in all of Genshin.
3. Kokomi
Following Tartaglia, Kokomi is another Hydro Catalyst user and one of the best supports in the entire game. Hailing from Inazuma, Kokomi aids the Traveler throughout their encounter with Raiden Shogun and is one of their most powerful allies. Firstly, Kokomi’s strength comes from her healing ability and ability to utilize Hydro. Although the healing is nice, applying constant Hydro is an amazing addition to a party. For parties focused on creating Hydro-based Elemental Reactions, Kokomi will be an invaluable asset. For example, a Cryo character will help constantly freeze enemies, helping quickly cut through foes. Any player in need of one of Genshin Impact’s supports should take a look out for this Hydro character sometime throughout Fontaine.
2. Yelan
Yelan is up next and is the strongest Hydro Bow wielder in all of Genshin Impact. Functioning as the intelligence agent collaborating with Ningguang in Liyue, Yelan takes the player on some interesting investigative adventures during her quests. Gameplay-wise, Yelan makes a perfect sub-DPS due to her sustainable damage and overall DPS increases. Using her Elemental Burst is one of the best things she can do for the overall party. This ability will create a summoned dice dealing coordinated damage with the active character. Once again, this will help keep up Hydro application without any dip in DPS. When exploring Fontaine, Yelan would be a perfect addition to any Genshin Impact player’s Hydro character collection.
1. Xingqiu
Finally, the best Genshin Impact Hydro character to bring to Fontaine is Xingqiu. Players will meet the book-lover throughout their adventures in Liyue. Firstly, out of any character on this list, Xingqiu is the only 4-star character, meaning he should be much easier to get than any other. Xingqiu is as strong or even stronger than any character on this list. This means that despite having a dip in rarity, there is no dip in quality. Overall, Xingqiu’s strength comes from his ability to create swords that aid in the DPS of any active character, similar to Yelan. These swords not only deal great damage and apply Hydro but also produce a decent amount of Elemental Particles. Although Xingqiu comes from Liyue, he is the best Genshin Impact Hydro character to prepare players for Fontaine.
