One of the best parts of the newest Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy 16, is the epic boss fights. Ranging from personal, human-versus-human combat to large-scale monster battles, these bosses are some of the best parts of the game. Overall, although some players have found the game to be a bit easy, a few bosses may give players some trouble. Unlike previous Final Fantasy entries, Final Fantasy 16’s hardest bosses require a different skill set. Now, action-oriented skills and reaction timing rather than strategy and planning. For series veterans, this can be a challenging shift. In the end, Final Fantasy 16 bosses can be difficult in their unique way. Here are the top five hardest bosses in Final Fantasy 16.
5. Titan
First, the Eikon of Earth, Titan, presents one of Final Fantasy 16’s hardest boss fights. This giant Eikon is going to be a war of attrition for the player, sporting five complete phases and taking a long time to beat. Between dodging massive boulders and earth spikes, players will need to be on the defensive for most of this fight. Additionally, at times it can be difficult to get close to Titan, especially during the last phase. Although his attacks are very slow, they cover a large area and deal large amounts of damage. Going for an all-out offense style of combat may be a good idea to move through the boss fight faster.
4. Barnabas
Next is the second fight with Barnabas, which creates an extremely difficult challenge. Final Fantasy 16’s Barnabas is one of the game’s hardest bosses because of his aggressive speed and relentless assaults of attacks. The fight with Barnabas will test every player’s combat abilities through the three-phase boss fight. Players must mix up their attack patterns and cannot simply spam attacks through this fight. Especially in the last phase, Barnabas will use attacks in rapid succession, making them very difficult to dodge. To combat this, players will need to carefully pay attention to each attack without getting mixed up by the particle effects.
3. Bahamut
One of the biggest obstacles for players in gaming is a flying boss. Bahamut, Final Fantasy’s iconic king of dragons, has both power and speed on his side. First, Bahamut will have four phases in the boss fight, meaning players should be ready for a long encounter. Next, each phase will require players to adapt various strategies and unique playstyles. Bahamut will use his speed to space out away from Clive and use many ranged attacks. For many players, it can be difficult to frequently dodge around the battlefield and find very few opportunities to attack. Additionally, Bahamut’s last fight has some particularly brutal attacks that make this fight one of Final Fantasy 16’s hardest bosses.
2. Behemoth King
The Behemoth King is a classic returning fight in Final Fantasy 16 and one of the most difficult in the game. Serving as an S-Rank hunt, Behemoth will cast massive spells and has a huge health pool. Although the fight is less intricate than others, Behemoth King makes up for it with its incredible attacks. On top of this, at 40% health, Behemoth will cast a massive ability called Apocalypse. This attack will send most of his attacks and cast meteor. This last attack specifically is enough to one-shot Clive if players aren’t careful enough. However, even if the player can dodge every attack, the fight can still be one of Final Fantasy’s hardest boss fights.
1. Ultima
Finally, the hardest boss fight in Final Fantasy 16 is the final boss of the game, Ultima. Firstly, with the cut scenes, this boss fight is going to take players around an hour to complete. If Titan was a battle of attrition, fighting Ultima is an entire war. Out of any boss so far, Ultima will have some of the absurdest attacks out of any boss. Players will want to dodge these attacks by any means possible, as they will do huge amounts of damage. Ultima’s Ultima spell especially can be tricky to dodge if you don’t react quickly. Finding enough opportunities to counterattack is key to making this fight quicker. However, finding time between large-scale magic attacks can be difficult. Ultimately, Ultima’s boss fight is an epic encounter worthy of being Final Fantasy 16’s hardest boss.
