Spacefaring can be a profitable experience for those willing to put in the time and effort. If you’re familiar with Bethesda games, you might know they have many items you can exchange for money; Starfield isn’t the exception. However, Starfield has many features that’ll require credits to make the most of them. From building outposts to upgrading and creating ships, most activities require spending a few credits here and there. If you want to make money fast, here’s a list of the 5 items you should sell first in Starfield.

Top 5 Essential Items to Sell First in Starfield

While there are many items in the game you can sell, there are a few you should hold on to due to how rare and useful they are. Yet, to maximize your profit, we recommend selling these 5 items first in Starfield.

5. Ammo

To the surprise of many, ammunition is the first thing on our list of items you should sell in Starfield as soon as possible. Eventually, you’ll find your favorite weapons and start working on a particular build. This means you’ll be using a specific type of ammo. If so, we recommend you sell the ammo you’re not using. Certain types of ammunition sell for a good price, and you can get many credits. So, as always, pick up every ammo brick you find and sell the one you won’t use when you can.

4. Apparel

Contrary to Space Suits, Apparel is easy to come by in the game. During the game’s first hours, you might have a few outfits you don’t like or don’t suit the character you’re roleplaying. We recommend you take this type of item and sell it when possible. Doing so will give you a steady number of credits, and the more you explore, the more apparel you’ll find to either wear or sell.

3. Notes

Lore Items

Notes in Bethesda games are a staple. Veterans who’ve played titles from this studio know what we mean, but those who don’t will find out soon enough. While reading and grabbing notes is great, they are only useful if you’re into the game’s lore. If not, selling them is a good idea. While they are not the priciest items, you’ll come across many of them, and you’ll soon won’t know what to do with many. So, when in doubt, go to a merchant and sell the notes you don’t like.

2. Misc Items

While you can use most of these items to decorate, you won’t need them all for your outposts or home. Instead, you can grab as many of these items as you can and sell them. When exploring some of the hand-crafted areas in Starfield or even some parts of planets, you’ll find many misc items. Similar to other games by these developers, selling them is great if you want a quick buck to buy something else. If you’re into decorating, though, and find a nice item that’ll give your place a good look, hold on to it and place it wherever it looks better.

1. Throwables

For the last one on our list of the best items you can sell first in Starfield, we have Throwables. Some of them, like grenades, are useful and powerful, yet others are not great. Mines, for example, are clunky and very situational. Unless you want to be Space Rambo and lay traps around every corner, we recommend unloading your mines with your nearest trader. Doing so will give you a considerable number of credits to let you spend them on whichever you prefer.

And now that you know what the best items are to sell first in Starfield, gather them and find your nearest traders. Exploring space requires credits, and you’ll need plenty to see and do everything the game has. Thankfully, the game offers players many ways to make credits, but selling things will always be one of the quickest ways.

Starfield is available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
