Hogwarts Legacy was the game that many players were cynical about because we didn’t have any good games set in the Wizarding World. Once the game was released, everyone was surprised by how good it was, and after waiting a long time, fans of Harry Potter could finally attend Hogwarts and have their own share of excitement and adventures. Although the game was supposed to be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One alongside the next-gen consoles, the studio decided to delay the PS4 and Xbox One versions to focus on the next-gen version and have more time to adjust the game to the older hardware of last generation of consoles. Now after waiting for a few months, PS4 and Xbox One owners can experience Hogwarts Legacy for themselves. If you are one of those players, here are 5 things to do first in Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 and Xbox One.
5 Things To Do First in Hogwarts Legacy
(Updated on September 30, 2024 – updated links and format)
Hogwarts Legacy is a gigantic game. Not only in terms of the size of the map, but the adventures you take, the areas you explore, the enemies you face, and the engaging story you experience. Therefore it is quite normal to feel overwhelmed by the size of the game and don’t know what to do first. Although this is a good thing to give players freedom of choice and many options, it can be challenging for many players that don’t have gaming experience, and Hogwarts Legacy is their first video game experience. So in this article, you can learn the most important things you should do first in Hogwarts Legacy and then other stuff once you’ve got the hang of the game. Let’s get started.
1 – Attend All the Classes Available
Your primary weapon and ally in Hogwarts Legacy is your wand and the spells you know how to cast. The more you know spells, the more powerful you are against enemies, have more options to create deadly combos and surpass any obstacle on your way. So how can you learn new spells in a school of wizarding and witchcraft? You attend the classes. Although there are a few spells that professors don’t teach you because they are illegal, you can learn them somewhere else.
When you start the game, there is a series of classes available that you can take right away, and make sure you do that. Afterward, professors will task you with different objectives to complete, and once they are done, they will teach you a new spell. So make sure you attend all the available classes and have those objectives at the back of your brain to complete them quickly when you get the chance.
2 – Practice Makes Perfect
The world outside of Hogwarts is unsurprisingly dangerous. You will face different wizards attacking you, creatures like gigantic spiders that can’t wait to tear you apart, and all the goblins that want to kill you. This means you have to fight a lot of time in Hogwarts Legacy, whether just exploring the area or completing the game’s quests. The combat of Hogwarts Legacy is fast and so satisfying, but in order to get the hang of it, make sure to practice. In the game, you have the Basic Spell, a light attack, and other spells like Bombarda or Expecto Patronum that need to be recharged after each usage. Therefore, practice and learn to combine Basic Spells with more complex ones and how to switch quickly between the spells that the game teaches you very early.
3 – Field Guide Pages Are A Great Way of Getting Extra XP
In Hogwarts Legacy, there are a lot of Field Guide Pages that you can find, and for each of them, you will have some experience points that can be used to upgrade your character. They are literally scattered all over Hogwarts, and it is easy to find them, especially at the beginning of the game. There are a few ways to get the Field Guide Pages, and all of them are explained beautifully by the game. You can find them by using the Revelio spell, using Accio to get Flying Pages, and also solving mirror and butterfly puzzles.
4 – Unlock As Many As Floo Flame Locations As You Can
If you have already read or watched Harry Potter books or films, then you are familiar with Floo Powder or Flame. This magical item allows wizards to travel to another location in a matter of seconds. In Hogwarts Legacy, it is used to fast travel between different locations of the game, and you will unlock it after completing the early main quests of the game. Afterward, in order to use any of the Floo Flames, you have to discover them first. The best strategy is to look at your map, and if you locate any Floo Flame near you, just take a few seconds to go and unlock it and then continue on your adventure.
5 – Unlock the Flying Broomstick
Fast traveling with Floo Flames is great, but nothing can beat a good flight with a fast broomstick and enjoying the amazing views of Hogwarts and the area around it. Unlocking the broomsticks in Hogwarts Legacy is simple, but it might take a little time. You will unlock the broomstick after attending the school’s flying class, which will be unlocked after completing a series of main quests in the game. After you’ve completed the class, you can buy a broomstick from Sprintwiches Sporting Needs shop in Hogsmeade for 600 coins. Also, a tip for you is to check the shop regularly since the owner will have some tasks for you that will unlock upgrades for your broomstick.
