Fans are loving the new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race on MTV. However, many have called out the network for reducing the show to an hour instead of its usual run time. Due to the uproar, 90-minute Drag Race episodes are set to return. According to MTV, RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 will have its first 90-minute episode on March 10th. This means that Drag Race will show more of the contestants’ runways, and fans will also see the same banter between the judges they have come to love in prior seasons. 90-minute Drag Race episodes have been a staple since the 10th season of the show.
Of course, the public doesn’t really know why RuPaul’s Drag Race episodes were cut from 90 minutes to 60 when the show switched to MTV from VH1. However, many fans have quickly blamed MTV’s new reality show, The Real Friends of WEHO. This is because MTV wanted people to tune into this new show right after Drag Race. However, partly due to the shorter episodes, fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race on MTV have been adamant about turning off the tv before this new reality show for the ratings to suffer.
RuPaul’s Drag Race airs Friday nights on MTV.
Other Reasons’ RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Episodes May Be Shorter
RuPaul’s Drag Race is a massive hit as it scored its highest ratings in over five years on its new network. Because of the fandom, most quickly blamed The Real Friends of WEHO for the lack of 90-minute Drag Race episodes. However, the reason may be simply related to scheduling. Insiders have said that MTV wants to air reruns of the show, but they needed to be 60 minutes to properly fit into the schedule. Of course, this may not be the reason, but it seems likely because most series that rerun on the network are either 30 minutes or an hour long. Either way, fans are happy for the return of 90-minute Drag Race episodes.
