RuPaul’s Drag Race is one of the biggest reality tv shows currently in production. The show, hosted by RuPaul, has been on VHL for several years after moving from the Logo network. Now, it has just been announced that RuPaul’s Drag Race is moving to MTV, which is VH1’s sister network. RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 has also just been announced. The fifteenth season of the hit reality series will premiere on January 6th on MTV. We expect the show’s social media to host the Meet The Queens campaign soon to announce the new cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
RuPaul’s Drag Race moving to MTV from VH1 comes as a surprise. However, it makes sense as the show continues to grow and VH1 perhaps prepares to move in different directions. However, it seems RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race will air its next season on VH1. For those not in the know, the celebrity version of RuPaul’s Drag Race involves celebrities competing week to week without the audience knowing their identities.
As mentioned, RuPaul’s Drag Race moving to MTV isn’t the first time the show has changed networks. The show premiered on Logo in 2009 to a limited audience. However, as it gained more of a mainstream audience, it made the switch to VH1 in 2017, where it has won several Emmy awards. Now, RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 will premiere in January.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Continues To Grow
Besides RuPaul’s Drag Race moving, the franchise continues to expand. Currently, the Canadian version of the show is airing. In addition, the franchise will expand to three new territories- Germany, Brazil, and Mexico. The premiere dates for those new shows are currently unknown. These shows will join RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Canada, Down Under, and others.
In the meantime, are you excited about RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 on MTV? We can’t wait to meet the queens and see what talents they bring.
