The Comic-Con Hall of Fame boasts a huge list of iconic names from the comic book industry with this year’s inductees being no different. Although, there was one name that raised the eyebrows more than the others. Batman. Having debuted in 1939 and therefore celebrating his 80th anniversary this year, Batmanย becomes the first fictional character to ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame and let’s be honest, he deserves it.
Ask anyone you meet, comic fan or otherwise, whoย Batmanย is and I’m sure they will be able to tell you. In his 80 years, Batmanย has fronted comics, TV shows, movies, video games and plenty of merchandise. He’s even getting his own star on the Hollywood walk of fame next year. Not bad for an 80-year old who’s popularity seems to be going nowhere anytime soon.
Unfortunately, due to a busy crime-fighting schedule, Batman couldn’t attend the award ceremony held in San Diego, he graciously let Jim Lee accept on his behalf. Lee, who just happens to be chief creative officer over at DC, had this to say as he accepted the award:
โBatman is real in every person who summons the strength and resilience to keep going. That is a superpower. Thereโs no other way to describe it,โ
Soย Batmanย now has two awesome superpowers, inspiration and money.
The award itself was just the icing on the cake of the wholeย Batmanย celebration at Balboa Park, the future home of the Comic-Con museum which is due to open its doors in 2021. There were plenty of other things for attendees to enjoy including a VR skydiving experience which let fans experience the thrill of being Batman.ย
