Assertive Employee Begs Georgia Goodwill Customer for Tip After Generous Offer to Bring Her Items to Her Car, ‘Ummm Absolutely Not!!’

She really expected her to come back

Tipping culture can lead to a lot of heated debates, especially in America. Why? Because tips are necessary here when people aren’t being paid enough for their services. However, there are instances where people take this concept a little too far. When somebody is already being paid a fair hourly wage, for instance, a tip shouldn’t be necessary or even expected. One Georgia Goodwill customer was shocked when she was asked to give a tip in a way that could be potentially seen as rude or aggressive.

Victoria (@its_victoria.04) decided to go shopping at Goodwill. She found a heavy wooden toddler stool that could teach her toddler how to help her at the counter when she’s cooking and doing other tasks. Keep in mind, Victoria is pregnant. She picked up the stool and started to take it to the front of the store to pay, struggling a bit while doing so. She was suddenly stopped by a Goodwill employee. The told her that she would carry the stool for her because she didn’t want Victoria to carry it while pregnant.

Victoria says that the employee went to grab a dolly to bring the stool to her vehicle while Victoria paid for it. She then loaded up the stool and helped her bring it to her car. While doing so, Victoria said the employee turned to her and said, “Yeah, people typically tip us.” Keep in mind, the employee did this “on her own terms,” as Victoria said. She was prepared to carry the stool to her vehicle by herself until the employee offered to help!

Victoria tried to change the course of the conversation at this point because she didn’t want to tip (because who would in this situation?) She told the employee, “That’s so sweet of them.” However, this wasn’t the end of it. The employee continued,“People typically tip us $10 or $20.”

When Victoria told her she didn’t have cash, the employee had the audacity to suggest that she go to her nearest ATM to withdraw a tip for her! It’s entirely shocking that she didn’t bring the stool to her vehicle out of the kindness of her heart. She actually expected to get something out of it.

The back-and-forth continued between Victoria and the employee. When Victoria finally got inside her vehicle, the employee said, “Don’t forget. I’ll be here until 11:30.” She truly expected Victoria to run to a bank to bring her back some cash for a tip. The entitlement in a situation like this is so real. As Victoria asks, “Why do you gotta be tipped for everything?”

One commenter stated, “Ummm absolutely not!! She offered her services.” Another person commented, “That’s crazy! $10-$20 tip for a $5 stool.” Not in a million years.
