As the Disney remake train chugs ever along, more details are coming to light surrounding Lady and the Tramp remake.
In this case, it’s a photo of the cast who will provide the voices of Disney’s classic beloved characters. But, as the revealing article from People shows, it’s not just the faces behind the voices that are getting the spotlight – but also the dogs themselves!
That’s right. Unlike The Lion King which (thankfully) used CGI lions, Lady and the Tramp will use real-life rescue dogs as actors! But of course, dogs, in general, are verbally challenged in the English language – hence the need for the human voices.
This furry remake will employ a range of voices from the likes of Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux as the Lady and the Tramp respectively as well as Benedict Wong playing Bull. Check out a few sample images of the cast (both human and canine) below:
Justin Theroux is perhaps best known for his work on Mulholland Drive (2001) and Inland Empire (2006). He’s also notable for having written the screenplays for such hit films as Iron Man 2 (2010) and Tropic Thunder (2008). He will help the dog Monte portray Tramp through his voice.
35-year-old Tessa Thompson will voice the titular Lady in Lady and the Tramp. You will probably recognize her as Valkyrie from Thor: Ragnorok (2017) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), as well as the Creed films (2015 and 2018).
Benedict Wong, who voices Bull, is also recognizable to MCU moviegoers. The 48-year-old Englishman plays the Master of the Mystic Arts’ trusty sidekick Wong in Doctor Strange (2016) and the last two Avengers movies (2018 and 2019).
But these are just a selection of the talent behind the dogs of the Lady and the Tramp. Joining them are Sam Elliott as Trusty, Ashley Jensen as Jock and Janelle Monáe.
The movie is due to release on November 12th, exclusively on Disney+.
