Kit Harington is reportedly in talks to join the box office juggernaut that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This comes from Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr, who reports that the Game of Thrones star will be in an upcoming MCU film, however, details on his role and what movie he’ll be in were scarce at best. Fleming Jr did go on to state that a few more details could be revealed later this weekend during the D23 Expo.
So, we’ll just have to wait and see how Harington will fit into the MCU, whether that be a starring role in a feature film or one of the many Disney+ Marvel shows. Seriously, there are a ton of them in development.
Former GoT actors are no strangers to Marvel films. Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark in GoT, also starred as Jean Grey in the First Class iteration of the X-Men movie series. On the MCU side of things, we’ve seen GoT alums such as Peter Dinklage, Finn Jones, and Iwan Rheon all make appearances in the MCU. Though, many people would like to forget Iwan Rheon’s involvement in Inhumans. Not because of the actor himself but due to the show’s… let’s just say overall quality.
Most recently, it was revealed that Robb Stark himself, Richard Madden, is set to star in Marvel’s Eternals movie as Ikaris. Madden will co-star alongside an all-star cast including Angelina Jolie, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, and Kumail Nanjiani.
With Spider-Man’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in serious jeopardy, it’s safe to say that Disney, Sony, Marvel, and pretty much every MCU fan are all having a bad week. Harington, who is one of the most beloved actors from GoT, being attached to the MCU isn’t going to make everyone forget about the web-shaped cloud hanging above D23 but it’ll probably make everyone feel a little better about the whole situation.
