The Zelda games are slightly odd in the respect that they don’t quite fit into any particular genre. Some gamers define them as either adventure titles, action RPGs, or even dungeon crawlers. Well, Curve Digital has just announced that a new ‘Zelda Clone’ is coming to Switch and other platforms and it’ll hit this Fall. A Knights Questย uses a 3D style and looks similar toย Oceanhorn which was an interesting take on the formula found inย The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.
A Knight’s Questย Looks Promising
A Knight’s Quest will be priced at $24.99 and is said to contain 30 hours of content. This seems like good value. However, the combat looks a bit imprecise and although I really want to enjoy this title, I just hope it doesn’t have many of the same problems asย Oceanhorn. That game originally released on mobile platforms and really didn’t feel optimized or reach the standards as a game designed for use with a proper gamepad.
Indie Zelda Clones?
As you can see from the screenshots, the game uses a cutesy art style and seems to feature sprawling environments, hopefully with the potential for side quests. Zelda-like games are quite rare, with similar games being the likes of;ย Okami, Blossom Tales,ย andย Ittle Dew.ย Whileย Okamiย is critically acclaimed a lot of the other titles are generally smaller, budget titles and go under the radar. A Knights Quest seems to fit into the second category, but let’s hope it does something to separate it from the crowd.
Withย Hazlenut Bastilleย releasing at some point next year, Zelda fans have a lot to forward to in terms of both ‘real’ Zelda and Zelda inspired games over the next few months. Let us hope A Knight’s Quest is another highlight.
