Nintendo today provided a platform for independent developers to preview games that will be coming to the Switch over the next year at its Nintendo Indie (Nindie) World Showcase.

Kirk Scott, Nintendo of Americaโ€™s Indie Partner Manager of Publisher and Developer Relations. โ€œWe continue to be humbled by the innovative games our indie partners are creating around the world,” said Kirk Scott, Nintendo of America’s indie partner “You can bet our support for them will continue going strong into next year and beyond.โ€

Here are the games featured in the Nindies showcase:

Axiom Verge 2, Thomas Happ Games, fall 2020. The follow-up to 2015’s acclaimed Metroidvania (released for Switch in 2017) was unveiled in a special addition to the main presentation, during which creator Tom Happ announced that he’s been “quietly working on” the sequel for the last four years.

SuperMash, Digital Continue, May 2020. The basis of SuperMash is creating games by mashing up classic genres, such as JRPG and sports. The game is set in a brother-and-sister-owned game shop (maybe a Nindie studio? eh?) and seems to involve aspects of both a game development simulator and a game collection, letting players experience their creations and share them with other players through “mash codes.” Game director Joseph Tringali shared the code to his favorite mash, ZYX1W1, for players to try once the game is released.

Sail Forth, David Evans, 2020. A physics-based naval exploration game featuring a procedurally generated map in which players can take on quests, explore islands and recruit sailors and boats.

Liberated, Atomic Wolf, 2020. This highly stylized action mystery game will let players flip through the pages of its graphic novel-looking art style to determine the truth โ€” Timed Switch exclusive.

Dreamscaper,ย Afterburner Studios, early 2020.ย Dreamscaperย sees players alternate between waking life and dreaming, with the latter featuring randomized dungeons filled with puzzles, combat, and treasure in an attempt to battle through a young woman’s psychic torment.

Boyfriend Dungeon, Kitfox Games, 2020. Kitfox describes Boyfriend Dungeonย as a “dating sim-dungeon crawler mashup.” Forging memories with different beaus will create different weapons the protagonist can use to clear dating-themed dungeons.

Bake ‘n Switch, Streamline Media Group, summer 2020. A food-focused party game in which up to four players must beat dough into submission so they can bake up tasty treats. Features both co-op and competitive modes.

Gleamlight, D3PUBLISHER, early 2020, Players take on the role of a sword in this “quiet and mysterious” side-scroller with a distinctive “stained glass” art style and no visible UI.

SkateBIRD, Glass Bottom Games, late 2020. A skateboarding game. With birds. What more is there to say?

The Survivalists, Team 17 Digital, 2020. A crafting and base-building survival game featuring co-op for up to four players. Did we mention you can train monkeys?

Streets of Rage 4, Dotemu/Guard Crush Games/Lizardcube, first half 2020. New streets, same old rage. Classic side-scrolling beat-em-up action, but creators promise new mechanics for the fourth entry in the classic series. Gameplay was shown earlier this year at Gamescom.

Sports Story, Sidebar Games, mid-2020. A follow-up to 2017’s Golf Story, Sports Story promises to expand on the original’s formula with … more sports, as well as dungeons, enemies, and friends to meet along the way.

Murder by Numbers, Mediatonic, early 2020. This colorful, text-heavy murder mystery will see players solve puzzles and interrogate suspects to uncover the truth. Switch timed exclusive.

Dauntless, Phoenix Labs, 2020. The 2019 free-to-play monster-hunting ARPG is being brought to switch with a new content update, Stormchasers. A free armor and weapon set will be exclusive to Switch players. Cross-play and cross progress between platforms will be supported.

The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition, Croteam, today(!). The deluxe edition of 2014’s first-person physics-based puzzle game comes out on Switch today.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, Oddworld Inhabitants, January 2020. The 2005 action-adventure game set in the Oddworld universe is being brought to Switch at the start of 2020.
