Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been given an official release date for its final season. The beloved animated show will be concluding on Disney+ in the near future.
When the show departed Cartoon Network at the end of its fifth season, fans were worried the story would be left in limbo. Netflix came to the rescue and produced a 6th season consisting of 13 episodes. We got a lot of answers, but still, the ending never seemed satisfying.
Lucasfilm announced the return of Clone Wars at San Diego Comic-Con in 2018. Star War Celebration Chicago debuted the long-awaited trailer to eager attendees. Fans have waited a long time for this, and now the end is in sight.
Disney+ will air the first new episode of The Clone Wars on February 21st. Like The Mandalorian, the final season will most likely be weekly, with each new episode available on Fridays. The creators will ensure the final season sticks to their vision. Director and Executive Producer Dave Filoni have gone on record stating that the show will end just as he and George Lucas envisioned.
“It will conclude the story that [George Lucas] and I started together,” Filoni said. “There could be stories after that that take place with a lot of those characters. But especially for me directing Clone Wars, being that hands-on, I wrote and directed the final four episodes. It’s the end of something I feel really good about.”
Star Wars: The Clone Wars was everything the prequel movies should have been. The writing and storytelling are some of the best in the franchise. The voice acting is top-notch, and fans truly became emotionally invested in the characters. Star Wars fans know how it all ends, but the journey to get there is still essential.
