Coronavirus Disrupts Peter Rabbit’s Return

The sequel to 2018’s live-action adaptation of the famous rabbit created Beatrix Potter has been hit with an unexpected delay due to the health concerns surrounding the Coronavirus. CNBC reports that the film has been pushed back until August 7th of this year. Still, this course of action begins to worry about the movie industry as conventions and media releases are scheduling cancellations or delaying original release dates across all forms of entertainment.

It’s a rather disappointing occurrence for fans who were eager for the sequel, and for any families looking to grab an Easter flick this season. Peter Rabbit was released back in 2018 to warm reception and box office success, striving for a potential equal-winning follow-up that is Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.

Rabbit Teaser

Just recently, the new James Bond film, No Time To Die, announced that its worldwide theatrical release will be held off until November instead of April due to growing fears of COVID-19. The growing cases and unknown updates to a possible vaccine continue to stir global anxiety. Participating companies in the movie business and their products are reducing human contact by closing off theaters in order to avoid infection and the possibility of bringing it back from overseas.

Other countries such as Italy, France, and China have either implemented quarantine actions or closed a number of cinemas to the point where stocks in the movie industry are being affected. There’s no telling what country will be targeted next and what other entertainment product and/or event will be postponed or even canceled due to the infection’s outbreak.

Rabbit Main

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway is a follow-up adventure featuring the voice talent of James Corden, who’s returning to play as the titular character. The Will Gluck-directed film will also star Domhnall Gleeson, Rose Byrne, and David Oyelowo in live-action roles, with Margot Robbie and Elizabeth Debicki reprising their Rabbit characters.
