Movies are having a rough go at the moment. And by that, I mean none of them are seemingly able to release due to the coronavirus. Yesterday, Sony announced delays for many of its upcoming films, rearranging most of its entire slate. And the movies range from action blockbuster to war drama to family comedy.

This news comes via The Hollywood Reporter. Morbius, a Spider-Man spinoff starring Jared Leto, has been pushed from July 31st to March 19th, 2021. Sony has moved Ghostbusters: Afterlife from July 10th to March 5th, 2021. Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, which has already been delayed once, will now open on January 5th, 2021. Greyhound, a WWII drama starring Tom Hanks, would have opened on June 12th but now has no release date. And Uncharted, a Tom Holland-led adaptation of the popular video games has moved from its March 5th, 2021 release date. Since that date will now be occupied by Ghostbusters, Uncharted will now release on October 8th, 2021. That date was previously held by an unnamed Sony/Marvel movie. But that secret project also now has no release date.

However, one Sony movie has actually moved up. Fatherhood, a drama starring Kevin Hart, will now release on October 23rd, 2020. Its original date was January 15th, 2021, which now goes to Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway. In a separate report, IGN confirmed that Monster Hunter and Venom 2 will keep their release dates of September 4th, 2020, and October 2nd, 2020, respectively.

Sony’s group of delayed projects are just the latest additions to a very long list. The epidemic has impacted every corner of the entertainment world. And there’s no way to know when the world will be rid of the virus. So it’s smart for Sony to play it safe. Most likely, we’ll continue to see more delays before this is all said and done.
