Acclaimed narrative role-playing game Disco Elysium is out now for Mac. Use your detective skills and skill system to solve a gruesome murder.
Disco Elysium first released in October 2019 and has since received critical and audience acclaim. Most notably, developer ZA/UM won four awards at The Game Awards, including Best Narrative, Best independent Game, Best Role-Playing Game, and Fresh Indie Game.
In the game, you play as a detective who must solve a bizarre murder. Instead of combat, the game revolves around using your different skills in conversations.
Disco Elysium is also known for the amount of freedom and control you have to shape the course of the character and world. Compared to modern role-playing games like Fallout or The Outer Worlds, Disco Elysium is deemed by most as the pinnacle of the genre.
The game is heavily inspired by classic role-playing games, for example, Planescape: Torment. Throughout the game, your choices and actions will create your unique character.
For those hoping to experience the game on console, the wait should hopefully end soon. Developer ZA/UM has said that it will be coming to PlayStation 4,
Disco Elysium Should Run Well on Most Mac Computers
In terms of performance, the Steam page recommends running it on a beefier Apple computer like a MacBook Pro or iMac. However, the minimum settings say it can still run on smaller specs like on a MacBook Air.
The developers did say on Twitter that as long as your computer can run macOS Catalina 10.15, it should run the game.
Those hoping to jump in on the experience can get in at a discount. Disco Elysium costs $39.99 but is currently 25% off until May 2.
A new performance patch for the game is out as well. The patch includes proper 16:10 support and other fixes.
