Since its release in 2016, The Crown has brought in scores of fans either side of the Atlantic. Detailing the life of Queen Elizabeth II, the show has gone from strength to strength and viewers have been dying for more ever since season 3 aired its final credits.
Being a tea swilling, crumpet munching British person I thought it was only appropriate that I bring you news of season 4 as I stand to attention and wait to salute our beloved monarch.
In a short teaser trailer on Twitter, which you can see below, Netflix has announced that season 4 of The Crown will arrive on November 15, this year! Luckily, the filming wrapped just before the COVID-19 pandemic managed to close down countless productions around the globe.
The trailer should go someway to please fans who were shocked when it was announced that the upcoming season of The Crown would be the penultimate, as the show would end after season 5. The shock didn’t last long though, as series showrunner, Peter Morgan, soon announced that there would indeed be a 6th season.
Anyway, take a look at the teaser:
As you can see, Olivia Coleman will be returning as Queen Elizabeth II in the final season of The Crown, and she will be joined by the fantastic Gillian Anderson, who will be playing a person not so loved by the British public, one Margaret Thatcher.
This season will also be the last time Olivia Coleman will star, as it was recently announced that Imelda Staunton will be taking over to play the Queen in her elder years. It was also recently announced that Elizabeth Debicki, of Guardian of The Galaxy 2 fame will be taking over as Princess Diana.
Let us know your thoughts on The Crown in the comments. Are you excited about the next season or could you care less? If you need me, I’m off to make some tea.
