The Molasses Flood is best known (before Drake Hollow) for developing The Flame in the Flood. It’s a rogue-lite adventure about coasting down the rivers of run-down America with nothing but your dog. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I more than recommend it. Following the release of their first title, their second title Drake Hollow has been on Xbox One for some time. It got very favorable reviews, sitting near an 80/100 on Metacritic. A month following the Xbox One release, the developers are ready to give PC a turn at this great title. Drake Hollow is coming to PC on October 1, releasing through Steam and the Microsoft Store. You can find the launch trailer for the adorably beautiful game below.

What is Drake Hollow?

Drake Hollow is a co-op action game, putting you in the shoes of a human transported to the mysterious world of The Hollow. This world is inhabited by Drakes, little plant creatures that are as small as they are cute. It isn’t as nice as you might think though, as evil beasts seek to end the Drake’s way of life and consume them. They need protection and support, and there’s one person who can do that for them. As a solo adventurer or you and up to three friends, explore the world of The Hollow and build up a defendable home so the Drake’s may thrive.

The game looks like tons of fun for those who enjoy village builders, offering beautiful visuals and in-depth gameplay systems. Don’t just take it from me though, as Forrest Dowling, CEO and Creative Director at The Molasses Flood, loves the game as well:

Hundreds of thousands of Drake Hollow players on Xbox have had a chance to experience something pretty unique in the world of games: the opportunity to care for something other than yourself. Our aim was to create a game experience that brims with heart, is both musically and visually enticing, and has at its core rock-solid systems-based gameplay. We hope players find Drake Hollow to be as fun and unique as we designed it to be!”

I like how it looks so far, but we’ll both have to wait to see how that fares in gameplay. For now, I’d like to hear your thoughts on Drake Hollow. Will you be helping the little Drakes survive in this unforgiving world? What’s your favorite aspect of the trailer? Let me know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
