In Conan Exiles, getting the next armor tier involves you getting a resource called Thick Leather, but the stuff isn’t exactly growing on trees. It requires a lot of work and hunting which can be confusing for some players. In this guide, I’ll show you how and where to get Thick Leather in the latest Conan game, Conan Exiles.
How To Get Thick Leather
In short, to get Thick Leather in Conan Exiles, you need to hunt large animals such as Rhinos, Bears, and Elephants. If you want to know the full list of animals that give components of Thick Leather, you can find that below. As well, the map below details the best spots to hunt these animals, all given red dots. While there are more spots you can likely find around the map, these are the best ones surrounding the location you spawn at.
All Creatures That Give Thick Leather in Conan Exiles
- Bears
- Dragons
- Mammoth
- Rhinos
- Elks
- Gorillas
- Frost Giants
- Rotbranch
- Thunderfoot
- The King Beneath
- Hrungnir of the Frost
- Brother of the Moon
- Brother of the Mists
When killing these animals, they give you components that can be used in your inventory to craft Leather. Once you have a substantial amount, you’ll have to put the leather in a Tannery for it to become Thick Leather. If you don’t have a Tannery in Conan Exiles yet, you unlock it via the level 10 Tanner feat. After unlocking the feat, you can then make the Tannery with the following materials listed below.
- 20 Twine
- 38 Bark
- 240 Stone
- 160 Wood
Once made, all you need to do is place the materials inside the Tannery and craft Thick Leather via the recipe option. Once done, you can then use the Thick Leather to craft various materials that can be later crafted into Armor or weapons. Hopefully, this guide helps you survive in the harsh world of Conan Exiles. If it does, be sure to let me know in the comments and share it with others. Good luck out there, Exiles!
