The Atelier Series

The Atelier series is a line of Japanese RPGs that revolve around a crafting system called “alchemy”. To date, there have been 22 installments in the main series. The video game developer Gust released the first game, Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg, as a Japanese exclusive on the PlayStation in 1997. In 2005, Koei Tecmo released Atelierย Iris: Eternal Mana on the PlayStation 2. It was the first game in the series to come out in North America and Europe. Since then, the series’ latest installments have been released internationally. The first Atelier Ryza game, Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & The Secret Hideout, is also available on PlayStation 4, Switch and PC. Like many games in the series, it has received positive reviews.
