During the “Where Gaming Begins” event on October 28, AMD revealed the new line of Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards. The three new cards are said to be AMD’s response to Nvidia’s next-gen hardware and are billed as “the most powerful gaming graphics cards ever built” by the company.
The Line-Up
At the reveal event, AMD introduced three cards at different price points and compared them to Nvidia’s GPUs.
Radeon RX 6800 XT
According to AMD, the RX 6800 XT will perform roughly equal to Nvidia’s RTX 3080. It will have 60 compute units, 16GB of dedicated GDDR6 memory, and a boost clock of up to 2.25 GHz. The total board power will be at 300 W.
This flagship graphics card will be available on November 18 at $649 USD.
Radeon RX 6800
With its lower price point, AMD billed it as a “fantastic entry to 4K gaming.” This GPU is comparable to the Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti. It has 72 compute units, 16 GB of GDDR6 RAM, a boost clock of over 2.1 GHz with the board power at 250 W.
Similar to the RX 6800 XT, it will be launching on November 18, but it will be at $579 USD.
Radeon RX 6900 XT
At the top of the stack sits the RX 6900 XT, the high-end AMD graphics card that is said to be direct competition with Nvidia’s RTX 3090. Once again, it features 16GB of dedicated GDDR6 RAM and a boost clock of up to 2.25 GHz. The RX 6900 XT will have 80 compute units at a total board power of 300 W.
You’ll have to wait a bit longer for this one as it will be launching on December 8 at $999 USD.
