Not long after Microsoft unveiled their December lineup for Xbox Games With Gold, we now have Sony’s equivalent. The PlayStation Plus lineup for December is unlikely to include any games that would be on many gamers’ Christmas lists, but there are some nice additions nonetheless.

Perhaps the headline game is Just Cause 4. The latest entry in the explosion and destruction-focused open-world series, it takes star Rico Rodriguez to the nation of Solis, where he earns the attention of a shadowy figure who knows a great deal about Rico’s personal history. In order to stop them and their organization, the Black Hand, harnessing the power to control the weather, you will have to do that thing Rico was always good at, blow stuff up. And being the latest version of that formula, utilizing the power of the PlayStation 4 & PS4 Pro, it looks damn good when you do it. Spoilers: it’s a lot.

Joining it in December is Rocket Arena, a 3-vs-3 competitive shooter from Final Strike under the EA Originals umbrella. It didn’t light the world on fire when it came out in July, but maybe being available will open it up for a much wider audience, similar to the success that similarly-named Rocket League enjoyed when it too released on PS Plus.

The final addition is Worms Rumble. Releasing on PlayStation Plus on December 1, it’s the latest in the long-running multiplayer strategy series, with this one being the first to feature real-time combat and a battle royale mode, and recently had a beta that featured crossplay support.

Bugsnax is continuing another month of availability for people who didn’t already redeem it for their library. It’s useful to know that even people who don’t own a PS5 can add it to their library through Sony’s online PlayStation Store. These games are separate from the PlayStation Plus Collection for PlayStation 5, a selection of PlayStation 4 games that are (kinda) an equivalent to Xbox Game Pass. Subscribers get access to both services, which is good for people who didn’t get to experience some of PS4’s highest-rated titles.

When I'm not researching games to potentially add to an ever-growing backlog of games I've never finished, I'm scouting the next wonderkid on Football Manager, or adding my 180th hour to my Persona 5 completionist run. Likes games, and likes talking about them. Surprise, right?
