Retro and arcade are synonymous at this point, with many older gamers having arcades be their first “gaming” experience. They were so fun back in the day and, while they’re more niche these days, some really enjoy the idea of playing on arcade machines. Some even look to bring older arcade games to new heights with games like Tetris Effect (a fantastic title by the way). Speed Limit is one such game but in a refreshing way. This game looks to combine six classic arcade genres into one game which sounds ridiculous, but is a surprising amount of fun. Today, the team announced that Speed Limit will release on PC, PS4,
Speed Limit tells the story of a normal train commute gone horribly wrong. When you’re attacked by a hitman and several SWAT teams, it’s up to you to take it into your own hands. Phasing through several genres of classic arcade, you’ll run and gun your way to an escape. It may be filled with bullets flying at you but look on the bright side, it could be a boring train commute? Speed Limit promises three things. Difficulty, speed, and addiction.
Above all else, Speed Limit looks to pay serious homage to the greatest of the retro gaming era. From seamless transitions to non-stop action, you’ll be feeling the nostalgia and adrenaline all the way along. Not only that, but there’s even an endless mode for once you complete the main game. There’s plenty of content in a small but action-filled package, filled with passion and fun left and right.
Given just how unique and promising this is, Speed Limit may be on my list of indie games I have to try. If you’re a fan too, be sure to let me know in the comments below. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go hum that trailer song for the next three hours.
