This is a short list of characters who probably won’t be making an appearance in Street Fighter V. So far we know certain characters will make the roster no matter what, these include, Ryu, Ken, Blanka, Chun Li, E.Honda, M.Bison, Vega, Sagat, Balrog, Zangief, and so on. The list could have been REALLY long, so I kept it to the 5 characters that I would have liked to have seen in Street Fighter 5, but probably won’t make the roster, or at least be involved at the initial release, and this list cannot contain characters who have been confirmed for the game already, so the likes of Charlie are out of bounds.
1. Skullomania
Probably my favourite fighter from the EX series, which was well received but ultimately ended up drawing to a close all too soon. Because the games were a collaboration project between Arika and Capcom, some of the characters don’t actually belong to Capcom, so the likes of Doctrine Dark, Pullum and Hokuto won’t ever see the light of day again due to licensing problems. Its a shame since Arika is basically sitting on these IP’s leaving them unused, but what can you do eh? Getting back to Skullomania though, he was a strange character that could SKULLO DIVE to close the distance and cause large amounts of damage with his SKULLO ENERGY and more famously – SKULLO DREAM, where he would actually use a series of attacks that didn’t feature in the game as usable moves.
2. Juri
One of the strongest female characters from Street Fighter IV, its unlikely though that she will feature in Street Fighter V due to the story line. She may appear as an extra character as part of some DLC Capcom may release, or in Super Street Fighter V or Ultra Street Fighter V or even Mega Super Sengoku Street Fighter V Gaiden. Juri is one of my favourite fighters from Street Fighter IV because of her versatility, and her lightning fast attacks.
3. Sheng Long
Ever wondered about Ryu’s win phrase in Street Fighter 2? “You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance” – How strange that this mysterious figure never became a playable character in the series. You have to assume that this guy once taught Ryu, although this myth is discounted when Gouken appears in Street Fighter IV, as he appears to be Ryu and Ken’s mentor; so who is Sheng Long? A forgotten relic of Ryu’s past? Wouldn’t it be nice to finally get some closure on this? I think so.
4. Eliza Masters
Ken’s girlfriend, who later becomes his spouse and the mother of his child (Mel). Ken’s ending in the first Street Fighter Alpha depicts their first encounter. Also shows up in Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind, Ken’s prologue in Street Fighter IV, and his endings in Street Fighter Alpha 2, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Street Fighter III: New Generation, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV. She is one of the few non-playable characters from the games to reappear in the Animated movie. Eliza would make an interesting addition to the series, but I feel that she’ll forever remain a figure of Ken’s inspiration cheering from the sidelines.
5. Mega Man/Zero
Yes, Zero has made appearances in Street Fighter spin off games in the past. Most notably, SVC Chaos. I doubt that Zero will make an appearance although he was a brilliant character in previous games. It was a little strange to include him but I after getting used to using a smaller character; he was one of my stronger characters.
Anyway – I hope you guys like my list, but if you agree/disagree, let me know in the comments below.
