Pokemon UNITE, Nintendo’s latest attempt to penetrate the lucrative mobile market, is finally going to open a beta test next month. Unfortunately, the beta test for this Pokemon MOBA will be open to Canada and for Android devices only. However, Nintendo has said the game would launch for Nintendo Switch, Apple, and Android devices, supporting cross-play between platforms.
Aside from Canadian residence-exclusivity, the game development update also mentioned that you would need at least 3GB of RAM and have Android Version 5.0+ installed; your in-game progress will not be saved and be reset upon the beta’s completion, and capturing or streaming gameplay footage is not allowed. A twist on the popular MOBA genre, Pokemon UNITE was first revealed on June 21 last year. It is being developed by Tencent, who previously has dominated the mobile MOBA with Honor of Kings, or also globally known as Arena of Valor. In this game, you will team up and face off other trainers in a five-on-five team battle to see which team can score the most points within the allotted time. Each player starts the match controlling low-level Pokemon and scoring points by “catching” wild Pokemon on the map and move towards the control points. As you keep fighting, your Pokemon will level up, gain access to new combat moves, and evolves.
Compared to the first gameplay presentation nearly a year ago (which you can watch above), the team said that development has continued to progress further. They have added more playable Pokemon, did gameplay changes and tweaks, improved visuals, and much more addition.
