Shane is one of Stardew Valley’s more controversial characters. Some people think he’s a big softie who warms up to you well and develops as a character over time, while other people dislike him and find him rude and irredeemable. However, he is one of the 12 characters available to marry, so if he has won over your heart, here’s how you can win his affection. These are all the gifts that Shane loves and likes.

Loved Gifts

Shane is a man of simple tastes. There are a few gifts that he absolutely loves, netting you 80 friendship points when you give them to him. He’ll respond with “Oh wow, [your name]! How’d you know this is my favorite?”

There are four gifts outside the list of universally-loved gifts that Shane loves: Beer, Hot Peppers, Pepper Poppers, and Pizza.

Given that Beer and Pizza are both sold at the Stardrop Saloon and Shane hangs out there most nights, giving him loved gifts frequently is pretty easy.

If you’re looking to really pump up your friendship with this eligible bachelor, give him something he loves on his birthday, which is Spring 20. In Stardew Valley, giving a character a gift on their birthday will have 8x the effect in friendship points. This means you’ll receive 640 friendship points for a loved gift on their birthday, the equivalent of more than two full hearts.

Liked Gifts

If you don’t have Shane’s loved gifts, you could give him some of the gifts he likes. Stardew Valley differentiates between “loved” gifts, which grant 80 friendship points, and “liked” gifts, which grant 45. Often, liked gifts are easier to obtain.

Shane is pretty easygoing with liked gifts, without anything being too complicated. He likes all eggs except Void Eggs (which he dislikes) and all fruit except Hot Peppers (which he loves). Remember, items of higher qualities grant a bonus, with something of iridium-quality giving a whopping extra 50% bonus to friendship points when given.

Universal Gifts in Stardew Valley

Many items in Stardew Valley are considered universal gifts. This means that almost everyone loves them (the universal loves) or likes them (the universal likes). There are a few exceptions to these, but for the most part, they can be a reliable way to level friendship with characters whose preferences you can’t remember.

Shane doesn’t pose any problems to the list of universal loves, loving all of them without exception. These include Prismatic Shards, the Golden Pumpkin, rabbit’s feet, pearls, and Magic Rock Candy. However, many of these items are extremely rare and hard to come by.

Shane also subscribes to almost all of the universal likes, with only one exception. Universal likes include maple syrup, Life Elixir, most artisan goods, cooking, flowers, foraged minerals, gems, vegetables, and fruit tree fruits. However, Shane hates pickles of any type, so avoid giving him those if handing them out to everyone else.

Overall though, we hope this helped you in giving gifts to Shane in Stardew Valley! If it did, be sure to let us know in the comments below. As well, share it around so it can help others!
