Bethesda is now officially part of the Xbox family. It was one of the biggest announcements of its kind when news broke that Microsoft would be buying the mega-publisher in a $7.5 billion deal back in September last year, and we’ve already started to see some of those first-party benefits with the acquisition is finally confirmed. A whole truck-load of Bethesda games were recently announced to be jumping onto the Xbox Game Pass train, and now, some of those Bethesda games are getting their frame rates boosted on Xbox Series X/S.

FPS Boost, Xbox, Bethesda

Microsoft launched the FPS Boost initiative in February to enhance backward-compatible titles that were initially released in previous Xbox console generations and five Bethesda games will be getting that same treatment. Skyrim: Special Edition, the two Fallout games released last generation (4 and 76), Prey and Dishonored: Definitive Edition are the five games getting this treatment, although no further details were released as to when the updated frame rate boosts will be coming to each of them. Although, it is rumored to arrive at a similar time to the next major firmware update, which will add toggleable FPS Boost and Auto-HDR settings to each game.

The news about these frame rate boosts was revealed in the latest Xbox podcast by Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, and Jeff Rubenstein and they revealed that the frame rate boosts will increase the frame rate of all the games from 30fps to 60fps and they will be able to be turned on or off. Fallout 4 had previously been shown running at 60fps by Microsoft themselves on Xbox Series S as a tech demo, and while there had previously been user-created mods to give Fallout 4 60fps support, but now that will come as an official feature later on.

What have you made of all the news surrounding Bethesda? Do you think that Bethesda games will still reach PlayStation players? Has Microsoft taken good steps forward with its new purchase? Leave us a comment.
