PlayStation Plus, April
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

You might have thought that, if certain leaks and rumors were to be believed, this lineup of PlayStation Plus games for April 2021 would look a bit different from what it actually has turned out to be. See, judging by a listing on the Japanese PlayStation Store, Civilization VI was rumored to be one of the games that would make up April’s lineup, while in reality, it isn’t. Instead, as confirmed by a post on the PlayStation Blog, we are treated to a pretty zombified line-up, save for one.

Oddworld: Soulstorm PlayStation

Oddworld: Soulstorm, is the PS5-exclusive free game for April, and it had already been revealed that it would become free for PlayStation Plus members when it launches on April 6. The follow-up to 1997’s cult-classic Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee and 2014’s New ‘N’ Tasty, Soulstorm takes the classic Oddworld action-adventure platforming formula and adds some new twists, the main one being crafting. It’s important to note that while the game is also available on PS4, that version won’t be free for PS+ members, only the PS5 version will, although people who don’t have a PS5 (like many do, due to constant stock shortages) can still add it to their Plus library.

Days Gone, PS plus

The first of the two zombie games for April is a Sony first-party offering. Days Gone, first announced at E3 2016, took nearly three full years to come out since that reveal thanks to numerous delays, but the final game certainly impressed in parts, particularly the number of zombies that it can throw at you at once. There might be slim hopes for a sequel, but what Bend Studios built certainly has cause for playing both for the first time and another time on PlayStation Plus.

Zombie Army 4, PS plus

The final zombie title for April’s PS+ games comes from the makers of the Sniper Elite series, the premiere game in sniping a man’s testicles from a mile away (in Mortal Kombat-style x-ray vision for added measure). Zombie Army 4: Dead War, thankfully, does retain the signature testicle-shooting feature (is it officially a feature now?) but combines it with the “zombies” format that has been so successful in the Call of Duty series.

All of these games will become available for download on April 6, so you still have a chance to grab games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Maquette before they disappear from PS Plus. The cut-off point is May 3.

What do you think of this lineup? Leave a comment.

When I'm not researching games to potentially add to an ever-growing backlog of games I've never finished, I'm scouting the next wonderkid on Football Manager, or adding my 180th hour to my Persona 5 completionist run. Likes games, and likes talking about them. Surprise, right?
