Nickelodeon television shows were the highlight of many 90’s kids childhoods. For many, cartoons like Rugrats and Hey Arnold are considered the golden age of children’s shows . Currently, Nickelodeon is premiering a new show featuring Kel Mitchell—as in, one-half of Kenan and Kel—called Game Shakers. And pretty soon, more actors and cartoons may return, as its top programming executive suggested that the network is considering ways to bring a small handful of its oldest programs back to its schedule.

Russell Hicks, president of content and development at Nickelodeon, told Variety “we are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way.” Under the plan, the network might seek to experiment with retooled versions of classics that could include “Rugrats,” “Hey Arnold!” “You Can’t Do That on Television” or “Victorious.” The shows might not come back as series, but could appear in other formats, like a movie or special. And they likely would not constitute the bulk of the network’s development efforts.

Though he didn’t elaborate, Hicks did point out that the children who grew up on Nickelodeon, when it rose to prominence in the ’80s,  now have kids of their own. This could be even more incentive to bring the shows back, considering that parents would be motivated to share their childhood shows with their children.

I believe that games are an important form of entertainment, and that they can uplift and inspire millions of people around the world. I love JRPGs, and dabble in many other genres, especially MOBAs.
