During the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase E3 2021 event, Microsoft unveiled both the latest Halo Infinite gameplay trailer along with its “holiday 2021” release window. The game was first planned to launch in late 2020, then was delayed to fall 2021, and now it will launch this holiday alongside the multiplayer mode.
Head of Creative Joseph Staten said that in Halo Infinite, Master Chief will be taking on his biggest challenge yet. In the video trailer below, we can hear the Pilot’s desperation when facing the Banished threats and their lack of supplies. But Master Chief, flying through debris littered with lifeless bodies of enemies and UNSC forces alike in space, assures him that one bullet “is enough” to defeat an entire army. In Zeta Halo, he then meets a new, but similar, AI to Cortana. She said she is called “the Weapon” and was brought in to help take care of Cortana who went rampant in the events of Halo 5: Guardians. However, something seems to go wrong and nothing is as easy as it sounds.
We are continuing the story of the Master Chief and Cortana from Halo 5, but also telling a story that’s welcoming for new players. Cortana’s fate is one of the Infinite campaign’s big mysteries, and early in the story, you will meet a new UNSC AI, “the Weapon”, that was created to help stop Cortana. Together with the Pilot, the Master Chief, and the Weapon begin an epic adventure to explore Zeta Halo, defeat the Banished forces who control the ring, and unravel even more mysteries along the way. “
When Halo Infinite releases this holiday, it will also launch together with the long-awaited return of Big Team Battle mode. This time it is bigger and better than ever, supporting 24 players on large vehicle-friendly maps, promised to tap into the full potential of Halo sandbox.
