Netflix announced the premiere date of Marvel’s highly anticipated live-action show Jessica Jones: November 20. All 13 of the show’s one-hour episodes will be available on that date for streaming.

On Thursday, Netflix released a short teaser for Jessica Jones, which is embedded below:

Actress Krysten Ritter plays the role of Jones, a former superhero turned New York City detective who investigates cases involving people with “extraordinary abilities.” Jones will be facing off against archrival Kilgrave, aka Purple Man, played by David Tennant (Doctor Who). Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple, a nurse in Hell’s Kitchen who previously appeared in the Daredevil TV show.

Jones, who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, opens her own private investigation agency Alias Investigations.

In the comics, Jones appeared in the Marvel MAX imprint series Alias (2001-2004) and later appeared as a member of the New Avengers (2010-2013). Jones regularly interacts with several superheroes of the Marvel universe including Davedevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Cage (Mike Colter) will make his debut in the Jessica Jones TV series before he appears in his own show in 2016. The show is expected to expand Netflix’s Marvel universe by using this series as a precursor for future shows, including Iron Fist (TBA) and The Defenders (TBA).

The show is likely to draw comparisons with Powers, a PlayStation-exclusive online streaming series that debuted in March. Powers featured a former superhero (Sharlito Copley) who lost his powers and became a detective for the Powers special homicide division. Though it was based on a comic book series published by Marvel Comics, Powers does not take place in the same universe as Jessica Jones.
