Witcher fans have had a lot of exciting news over the past month, and that train is continuing to roll. The animated prequel film to The Witcher television series, Nightmare of the Wolf, received a new teaser trailer. Along with the trailer, the English voice cast has also been announced.

Divergent star Theo James is set to play the main character of Nightmare of the Wolf, Vesemir. Lara Pulver will play Tetra, and Graham McTavish will play Deglan. Lastly, Mary McDonnell will be playing Lady Zerbst. Official photos of all four characters have also been released in preparation for the film’s release.

Nightmare of the Wolf was written and produced by Beau DeMayo and co-produced by The Witcher Showrunner and Executive Producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Studio Mir’s Kwang Il Han. Han is also directing.

The synopsis for Nightmare of the Wolf is as follows:

The world of The Witcher expands in this anime origin story: Before Geralt, there was his mentor Vesemir — a swashbuckling young witcher who escaped a life of poverty to slay monsters for coin. But when a strange new monster begins terrorizing a politically-fraught kingdom, Vesemir finds himself on a frightening adventure that forces him to confront the demons of his past.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is set to release on Netflix on Monday, August 23rd. Later this year, the second season of The Witcher is set to release on December 17th, 2021.

For those looking to read the books before the new season (or film), here is a helpful guide to tackling the series.
