Many people regard Cowboy Bebop as one of the best anime series of all time. I’ve recently caught up on it, and while I wouldn’t put it near the top of my anime list, I’d certainly call it a classic. Its reputation has been high enough for Netflix to commission a live-action version of Cowboy Bebop, coming later this year in November.

Around four years since it was initially announced that it would be happening, and after a couple of hiccups in production, Netflix has released a look at the live-action version of Cowboy Bebop on their social media accounts, with numerous tweets about the cast and images of them in action. The Cowboy Bebop live-action adaptation is set to premiere on Netflix on November 19, so fans of the original anime will be able to add that to their calendars.

Cowboy Bebop revolves around the crew of the bounty-hunting ship Bebop. Spike Spiegel is the main protagonist of the show, and he will be played by John Cho (of Star Trek and Harold and Kumar fame). Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage) will suit up as the Bebop’s shipmaster and navigator Jet Black, and Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) will star as Faye Valentine, a criminal who joins the crew of Cowboy Bebop after a couple of run-ins. The bounty hunter crew roam the galaxy chasing bounties and avoiding their past lives until their past catches up with them.

Fans of the original Cowboy Bebop anime series will be pleased to hear that the original composer for the anime, Yoko Kanno, will be back to help score this Netflix live-action adaptation. No word if we’ll be getting any version of the iconic ‘TANK!’ opening song, however.
