(Just a quick FYI, fairly large spoiler for the first movie below)

Lets not beat about the bush here; one of the best things about ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ was Colin Firth. Don’t get me wrong, the movie was all-round fantastic. The entire cast was amazing and the plot was engaging and entertaining.

But the indisputable star of the show was Colin Firth’s character Harry;

So naturally, with a sequel on the horizon, both fans and film crew alike would love to see him in it.

There’s just one small problem;

So, yeah, there’s the slight problem of Harry being killed in one of the least ambiguous way possible. So how can he appear in the sequel?

Well, IGN caught up with Mark Millar, the writer of the graphic novel that Kingsman was adapted from to ask him a few questions on the subject. When asked how Colin Firth would be able to be in the sequel;

‘That’s the conversation everyone’s having right now, because part of what made that movie work is Colin. Colin’s fantastic, it was a two-hander, that film. You also want to have the integrity of the story, so if you are bringing him back, it has to make sense. That’s where it is at at the moment.’

It’s good to know that they’re putting some real thought into how Harry could appear rather than just deciding that he somehow survived a headshot and called it a day. Of course, it’s entirely possible that Harry will only appear in flashbacks, which would sidestep a thorny issue at the cost of not allowing him to interact with Eggsy. This would be a shame given the powerful mentor relationship they had in the first movie.

Either way, Millar feels that we should have faith in Matthew Vaughn’s script writing abilities, citing his strong chain of great movies.
