Having strong characters to fight with is one of the most important parts of being successful in action RPGs, especially during the early hours. To have powerful party members, you need good equipment for them to fight with! In Tales of Arise, one way to make your weapons and armor better is to upgrade them by using Astral Crystal Grain. You need this material to upgrade basic weapons such as Shionne’s Basic Rifle and Alphen’s Crude Sword. In the beginning, this is a significant way to stay strong enough to progress through the main story.

(Updated on July 26, 2024 – Updated the location and process of obtaining the material).

Where to Find Astral Crystal Grain in Tales of Arise

You can find Astral Crystal Grain in Glanymede Castle, more specifically on its fourth floor. To reach it, do the following:

  1. Head to Ulzebek and make your way to Kyrd Garrison.
  2. Once you are in Kyrd Garrison, head up the elevator shaft to the Trench of Flames and travel to the Gates of Fire.
  3. From here, you will find Glanymede Castle at the end of the area. Once you are in Glanymede Castle, head through the area until you reach the fourth floor.
  4. Once you are on the fourth floor, run to the southmost part of the area and look for a blue chest in the center of a storage room. Interact with this chest, and you will obtain two Astral Crystal Grain.

You will encounter enemies as you make your way to the blue chest. It is your choice whether you would like to engage in combat with the monsters or avoid them. Keep in mind, however, that many of the enemies in this area may be powerful enough to defeat you, especially if you are at a lower level.

When you find the Astral Crystal Grain, you can use it to upgrade Alphen’s Crude Sword and Shionne’s Basic Rifle. For both of these weapons, you only need one Astral Crystal Grain for each upgrade. You will, however, need other resources as well before you can complete the upgrades.
