Today’s a big day for Destiny 2 fans, which is a rare thing to say after the sad news we got a couple of months ago. While some Guardians might have already hung up their cloak and put everything in their vault, Bungie is doing the opposite, with huge unvaulting plans for Destiny 2. According to the recent community update, we could get a lot of content lost to time, and there might be a few more secret plans for the franchise.
Destiny 2’s Unvaulting Plans Could Bring Campaigns, Raids, and More
Today, Bungie released a community update that mainly focused on the unvaulting process for Destiny 2. As many of you know, Bungie vaulted a lot of content as new expansions launched, making it inaccessible to players. However, that may be changing, as the studio showed a promising roadmap to bring back that lost content.
According to the update, the first pass in the unvaulting process could include the following:
- Red War, Forsaken, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind campaigns
- Strikes from the above releases
- Raids and Raid Lairs from the above releases
- Menagerie Activity with reprised rewards
Then, if everything goes well, these could come later:
- Free Roam Destinations (Public Events, Lost Sectors, Escalation Protocol, etc.)
- Seasonal Activities from Sundial (Season 9) to The Coil (Season 23)
- Raid and Raid Lair Weapon Updates
- PvP Maps
As for when all of this could happen, the article includes a roadmap that says the process began in June 2026, got the green light in September 2026, and has now entered pre-production. However, production would begin around February 2027, with no official release date yet.
While the unvaulting of Destiny 2 content sounds great, Bungie is also planning more things for the game. The studio is planning something after Monument of Triumph, called a Destiny 2 celebration, but the one that really caught many people’s attention is Destiny ‘Legacy,’ which claims that “the whole experience needs to be served to you all where you play today.” In other words, it sounds like a Destiny 1 remaster of sorts, but that’s just speculation. Lastly, there is a [REDACTED] project, where the only clue we have is the message, “we are back.”
As you can see, Bungie is really doing its best to keep Destiny 2 around. If all goes well, we could all enjoy some long-lost content that many new players never got to play. And while all of that sounds fantastic, we’re extremely eager to learn what the [REDACTED] and Legacy projects will be about.
