The Football Manager series, for a number of years now, has offered players the chance to play the game early before the official release on November 9, with the aim being to clean up bugs. What people might not be aware of, given that for some, each year is their first year trying out the game and seeing if they like it, is how to get the game early, with the Football Manager 2022 beta. In this guide, we’ll explain how to do just that.

How to Get the Early Access Beta for Football Manager 2022

The whole process is decidedly simple, as the Football Manager 2022 beta isn’t limited to a select bunch of people – instead it is open to anyone who pre-orders the game. However, there are some caveats to be aware of before you rush out to buy the game. First off, the FM22 beta is only available to PC players. That’s probably not a massive issue, as the FM player base has traditionally been very PC-orientated, but Sports Interactive, the developers behind the long-running series, has made efforts to broaden the player base by releasing the game on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One/Series X|S – with Football Manager 2022 launching day one on Xbox Game Pass.

Another caveat is that the seller of the game has to be a SEGA-approved retailer, which means that just because you might find a good deal on FM22, doesn’t mean that you’ll get the Football Manager 2022 beta with it if the place you get it from isn’t an official seller. You’ll be covered if you get the game on Steam, which is recommended because of the amazing work done by the FM community on the Steam workshop, with plenty of custom leagues and database updates to enhance your Football Manager experience.

The Football Manager series doesn’t have a massive revamp every year due to the budget and size of the team at Sports Interactive, a studio owned by SEGA. However, to give them credit, they do change the game up year on year to keep it fresh and interesting, while still maintaining the depth that fans of the series (like me) love so much. I reviewed the latest installment of the series, Football Manager 2021, on The Nerd Stash – check it out here. I also wrote some guides for last year’s game, many of which I’m sure will still apply to Football Manager 2022 when it comes out, such as how to install custom graphics packs to accommodate for the licenses that companies like EA hold and make it more immersive while spending thousands of hours taking your team to glory. Read some of them using this link – and leave some feedback!
