There is only one rule for the zombie apocalypse, survive at all costs. Campers never win, and winners never camp. That was the chant at today’s H1Z1 invitational live from TwitchCon. It was an exciting time for viewers of the first H1Z1 invitational held at TwitchCon today. The energy of the players matched the audience as the stream pulled in a viewership of well over 150,000.

H1Z1 is a survival sandbox MMO developed by Daybreak Game Company, formerly Sony Online Entertainment. The game is, reportedly, in development for PlayStation 4. The survival based game was released for early access on January 15, 2015. One popular feature of the game is the ‘Battle Royale’ mode. Each battle royale match begins with players who are dropped into the world to battle each other to the death until only one man remains. They have to fight for items, weapons, and vehicles as they struggle to overcome their enemies. Each player who reaches the top ten can be awarded with an assortment of gifts or in-game gear.

During the invitational, viewers of the stream could easily track their favorite survivors via an on-screen score board. Things got bloody quick as streamers, like Sodapoppin, dropped like flies in the early stages of the first round. The tournament was an exciting display of just how beneficial streamers, like Lirik and SxyHxy, are to game developers looking to increase awareness of their projects. The increasingly popular video game streaming company, Twitch, is holding its annual convention, TwitchCon, in San Francisco.

Daybreak Games is responsible for the Zombie Survival MMO invitational for H1Z1. Players came from across the globe, including professional streamers like Sodapoppin, Summit1G, Lirik, TheOddOne, Sxyhxy, Trick2g and more. During the convention, Daybreak games held an invitational tournament for popular streamers and newcomers alike. Several players were invited to compete for the chance to secure a hefty prize pool award. Players were given a shot to compete twice to earn a slice of the prize pool amounting to well over $170,000. The remaining top ten players from each round earned themselves a cash prize ranging from $1734 to $19,932.

Don’t worry if you didn’t get a chance to watch the H1Z1 invitational from this year’s TwitchCon. We have the results from the invitational for your viewing pleasure. Check it out below:
