A new Lost Boys movie is in the works at Warner Bros. According to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is developing a “reimagined” version of the original 1980’s vampire movie.

So far, the cast of the new Lost Boys movie includes two young, familiar faces. Noah Jupe, from A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II, and Jaeden Martell, best known for his work on the It movies and Knives Out, will lead the cast. Joining the stars are Randy McKinnon, who will write the script, and Jonathan Entwistle, who will direct. Producers on the new Lost Boys movie include Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger.

1987’s The Lost Boys is a horror-comedy classic. The movie told the story of two brothers who move to a small beach town in California, but they quickly discover that the town is home to a biker gang made up of vampires. It was directed by Joel Schumacher, who is also known for his work on St. Elmo’s Fire, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, and 2004’s The Phantom of the Opera. The cast of the original movie included Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Alex Winter, Corey Feldman, and Corey Haim.

Warner Bros' original Lost Boys

Although rebooting any 1980’s movie is a gamble, Warner Bros. seems prepared to take the risk with this new Lost Boys movie. This is likely due to the trend of reboots being financially successful — even when they are not as successful with critics or hardcore fans. No matter the circumstance behind their decision, Warner Bros. is starting off well with their cast and crew. Both Noah Jupe and Jaeden Martell have played significant roles in other horror franchises, and Jonathan Entwistle has done great work with young actors on projects like The End of the F***ing World and I Am Not Okay with This.
