Monster Hunter Stories 2 – How To Get Dreadking Rathalos
1. From the ★8: King Among Kings Subquest
You can get Dreadking Rathalos by doing the “★8: King Among Kings” Subquest from the Quest Board. You will be directed to a Quest Den in Hakolo Island, more specifically in East Kamuna Heights. There, you have to slay a Dreadking Rathalos to finish the quest. You can also find its eggs in the den.
2. Find the Eggs in Rare Dens
Several Reddit users have said that after completing the “★8: King Among Kings” Subquest, you can find Dreadking Rathalos in regular Rare Dens in Hakolo Island. You can grab the eggs from Low-Rank dens, too, but I assume it will have a lower percentage to show up since Dreadking is a High-Rank monster.
Dreadking Rathalos itself is a Power-type monster that is weak against Dragon element attacks, and these are the best weapon types you can use to break each body part of the emperor of Rathalos (Rathaloses? Rathali?):
- Head: Slash
- Wings: Slash
- Stomach: Blunt
- Tail: Slash

Once you beat it, you will get the materials to craft the Dreadking Armor+, containing Heroics (XL), Critical (L), and All-Out (L). - Explosive Breath—Inferno Breath Gene (M), Level 1: This is a power type that deals heavy Fire damage to one enemy and has a medium chance of inflicting Blastblight.
- Ignition Kick—Explosion Gene (XL), Level 40: This is a speed type that deals heavy Fire damage to one enemy and instantly inflicts Blastblight.
