The Munsters are back in style! Director Rob Zombie shared an exclusive black-and-white photo to Instagram that reveals the first cast photo of his The Munsters movie adaptation. Zombie wrote, “Since Halloween is rapidly approaching, I thought it was the perfect time to MEET THE MUNSTERS!” The photo also shows off three of its stars: Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, and Dan Roebuck as Grandpa Munster. All three cast members are seated in front of Rob Zombie’s Munsters’ Hungary house set at 1313 Mockingbird Lane.
The black-and-white portrayal is a direct nod to the original sitcom, which ran from 1964 to 1966 on CBS. The show became a household treasure to viewers around the country. The original American series follows a family of traditional monsters, with Fred Gwynne’s Herman Munster serving as the family’s patriarch. The family also consists of several key monster figures, such as Grandpa Munster, a vampire, and Herman’s son Eddie, a werewolf. While the original run only lasted two seasons, it is a favorite among many.
Zombie is certainly no stranger when it comes to spooky, unorthodox horror film reboots. Zombie first dabbled in horror movies with the release of House of 1000 Corpses in 2003. The next year, he directed The Devil’s Rejects. In 2007, Zombie terrorized audiences everywhere with his version of Halloween. Two years later, he followed it up with Halloween II.
A Closer Look At The Munsters House
Just earlier this month, Zombie shared a photo on Instagram of The Munsters house at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Zombie wrote in the photo’s caption, “Greetings from Hungary ?? aka 1313 Mockingbird Lane.” The photo was the first exclusive look into the upcoming project’s set.
As of now, there is no official release date for Rob Zombie’s The Munsters movie. However, it will be interesting to see Zombie’s twist on the lighthearted ’60s American monstrous sitcom.
