Marvel has shared some first-look footage at a few of their upcoming Disney+ shows including Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. The footage was delivered as a part of the Marvel Studios 2021 Disney+ Day Special which highlighted the Marvel Disney+ shows released so far as well as what’s coming in the future.
The special began with highlights from Wandavision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and What If…? Then, it featured an extended clip from Hawkeye featuring Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and newcomer Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) in an exciting car chase. The final three minutes were dedicated to the future of the MCU on Disney+ which included quick looks at Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk. Each clip showed a brief look at who these new characters are and their upcoming journeys to becoming heroes.
Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, a former Marine and CIA Operative who becomes the Moon Knight after unearthing Khonshu, the Moon God, in an ancient Egyptian tomb. He also suffers from dissociative identity disorder which allows him to shift between the multi-faceted aspects of Khonshu. The brief footage showed Marc dealing with his muddled reality and briefly shows him in the suit, jumping across buildings. Moon Knight is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
She-Hulk stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who receives an emergency blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner, turning her into a more mild-mannered version of the Hulk. The brief footage gives us a glimpse of Maslany as She-Hulk, while also features the return of Mark Ruffalo as Banner. She-Hulk will be coming to the streaming service sometime in 2022.
Ms. Marvel stars Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a young Muslim, Pakistani-American girl who idolizes Captain Marvel. Vellani will be portraying the first Muslim superhero in this series and the footage leans into this, showing a shot of a mosque with Vellani also saying “It’s not really the brown girls from Jersey City who save the world.” Ms. Marvel will hit Disney+ in summer 2022.
In addition to these shows, Marvel had plenty of announcements and first looks for upcoming Disney+ shows including Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Armor Wars, Echo, and Agatha: House of Harkness. There are also several upcoming animated projects including I Am Groot, Spider-Man: Freshman Year, X-Men ’97, and Marvel Zombies. Marvel isn’t slowing down at Disney+ as new shows seem to be coming at a rapid pace.
