Paramount+ has released the official trailer for the upcoming Halo TV series. The streaming service teased yesterday that the trailer would air at halftime during today’s AFC Championship game. The trailer is now here and features several famous faces from the Halo video game franchise. This includes Pablo Schreiber as the Master Chief, Natascha McElhone as Dr. Catherine Elizabeth Halsey, the Covenant alien race, and the first up-close look at the Master Chief’s AI assistant Cortana (voiced by Jen Taylor). For fans who have been waiting for this big moment, you can view the trailer right now:

The Verge reports that this is the first real glimpse we are getting for the show’s storyline and that it doesn’t appear to follow any specific arc from the games. However, the characters mentioned above are originally from the games, and it does appear there will be the discovery of a Halo, which are the superweapons of the Covenant that the game series is named for.

People broke down details of the trailer, including how the show will apparently give us a glimpse into the Master Chief’s back story as well as how the Spartan project was developed by Dr. Halsey and how it has affected the genetically modified humans themselves. Schreiber says that the Hal0 TV series will take place in the games’ universe but that other stories and new characters will be brought into the mix.

The Halo TV series was announced in 2018, though several factors delayed production for quite some time. Fans finally got a taste of what to expect when a one-minute teaser trailer was shown at the 2021 Game Awards. This new trailer is the meatiest look at what fans can expect from the new series.

The Halo TV series will premiere on Paramount+ on March 24.
